| posted: 2/3/2008 at 7:48:55 PM ET I went to Stony Brook last night. Bernadette added a new song When You Wish Upon A Star in celebration of the fact that she will be performing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on the 18th. She sang it beautifully.
The complete song list was
- Let Me Entertain You
- No One is Alone
- There is Nothing Like a Dame
- Fever
- Unexpected Song
- When You Wish Upon a Star (New Edition! Loves it.)
- Shenendoah
- You Could Drive a Person Crazy
- Time Heals Everything
- Not a Day Goes By
- Move On
- With So Little to Be Sure Of
- Rose's Turn
- Kramer's Song
I loved Kramer's song and can't wait for her book to come out. She was wonderful as always full of energy and kept talking about her house in FL and how flat the real estate market was. She also talked about Kramer's Song and how it came into her head when she was on a plane and it was the perfect song to sing to your child or animal.

From Internet Network: 69.203.102.x | posted: 2/3/2008 at 9:54:28 PM ET It's with piano and strings. It's very sweet. Bernadette said that she reads music but doesn't know how to write it. She sang the lyrics into a tape recorder with the tune she "composed" and Marvin transcribed and orchestrated it for her.

Very very nice. Really looking forward to hearing that.
It's funny - Django Reinhardt, a musical hero of mine, wrote an entire symphony without ever putting pen to paper himself. In the era before tape recorders, Django carried the whole "score" in his head. He hired a transcriber to travel with him on tour, and he just sang and hummed and whistled the parts to the transcriber, down to the very last tiny detail.

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 2/7/2008 at 6:48:59 AM ET leebee, interesting what you said about Django Reinhardt. I'm reading a book of theatrical anecdotes right now and was surprised to find out that Noel Coward's musical right hand was a woman named Elsie April. "She notated, harmonised and sophisticated his music and, having perfect pitch, listened to his singers and musicians with much concern. ... When Coward asked her why she never wrote anything herself she said, 'Well, dear, I don't seem to have the time.'..."
