It is free and usually the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in July. A date has not been announced.

Speaking of Barks, do you guys think that Bernadette will get a new cohost soon? I know MTM is a good friend of hers and they've got the whole animal thing going on but there are A LOT of other performers out there that have good chemistry with Bernadette. BP is great with the audience, funny and professional, the 3 years that I went MTM was not altogether there, she didn't know what was going on half the time, and didn't even know how to do a raffle. I heard she didn't really handle the Barks spot on The View very well either.

Since it was Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette who joinly started the whole thing, no MTM will always be involved. It's as much her baby as Bernadette's - though Bernadette seems to do more publicity - and is therefore a little better at it.

That old hag has had so much botox injected into her face that it's probably killed her brain cells, that's why she has no idea what's going on at Broadway Barks, and is just plain out of it in general. Bernadette needs a new cohost.

I hate people who criticize anonymously. Why not give your name if you're going to be so outspoken with your opinions? You must be a coward.

Mary Tyler Moore is a really great person and your comments make me sick.

Whoa, that is harsh anon. The 3 years that I attended Barks, she did seem very confused at times, but I wouldn't take it that far. You however bring up an interesting point regarding Botox. Mary has had quite a bit of work done on her face and I always can't help myself comparing her face to Bernadette's (there are so many pics of them side by side lol)and Bernadette just radiates natural beauty while Mary has the frozen Botox look that is currently so popular. I hope this is just a fad. It looks ridiculous and women who age naturally look SO much better. Yes Bernadette has a few wrinkles and lines under her eyes, but my God each wrinkle looks so gorgeous on her. I so admire her for staying true to her natural beauty. I hope that in the end natural aging will prevail.

The woman is senile, out of it, and can't handle herself in front of a large live audience. She was fired from the last stage production she was involved in. And to think that she is sober is scary. Bernadette could easily handle the hosting duties solo or find someone on her level. Bernadette is brilliant, funny, and completely in control. MTM can't even pull a raffle ticket out of a box and read the name on it. How many people thought her comment about the dog looking like Vanessa Williams was funny. Ugh.

I can't remember exactly but I think MTM quit Rose's Dilemma, she wasn't fired. Something about not being able to keep up with Neil Simon's changing the script. Maybe she couldn't read the names on the raffle tickets because of poor eyesight. I thought the Vanessa Williams comment was odd and not funny but geez! I met her at Broadway Barks and she was quite rude.

Hey Anon, Perhaps the truth is that Bernadette probably does feel she has found "someone on her own level" to co-host Broadway Barks - and that person is Mary Tyler Moore, the co-founder of the charity and the event. I don't know Bernadette Peters personally, but, by all accounts, she seems a genuinely good human being who possesses both the soul and the intelligence to look beyond someone's age or appearance and see the deeper qualities within.

I thought the sole focus and purpose of the Broadway Barks day was the animals who are up for adoption? Silly me, I didn't realise the event was intended as a Beauty Pageant or a Cabaret for a "live audience". To be fair, perhaps that explains your disappointment in Mary Tyler Moore's appearance and performance ... but I'm afraid nothing excuses the vileness of the words you use to express it.

"There’s a lot in the world for us to turn our attention to — helping people, helping animals, and helping animals help people." ... Bernadette Peters, August, 2007

This is the perfect example of why anonymous posts should never be allowed. I don't recall anything constructive ever being contributed anonymously--just a lot of trash talk from people who don't want to take personal responsibility for what they have to say.

I wish the webmaster would rethink that policy.

There are a couple minor advantages I can see to anonymous posts, one is that they can't (so far as I can tell) be deleted except by an admin, and two, they're not entirely anonymous thanks to them showing the IP address of the poster. But I wouldn't mind if this board didn't allow anonymous posts because it's no fun not being able to send a PM to anonymous.
