From: NYC | posted: 12/1/2007 at 7:01:53 AM ET It was good to see you Moljul. I was drunk with exhaustion and overexcitement. I got to the Marquis at 6:45 and was 9th in line. The girls at the front of the line were there at 5:00 am. When we were about to enter the theatre, some man told us not to bother going to the orchestra becasue it was full of VIPs. I don't know what his purpose was in saying that because the house was not completely full and we ended up on the first row. As the kids say, what-EVER. It was a ridiculously long time to wait for a 20 minute concert, but for our Divas, we'll do just about anything. It was BIG FUN. Besides, cutting work is something at which I'm especially adept.

The VIP section was a joke. That's actually where I was sitting. I was maybe 75-100 people back in line - probably walked right by you when I arrived. When I walked in the theater most people were not entering the center orchestra. The first 4-5 rows were full but there was this wide open space. Of course I then saw that they were marked VIP. I mean like 6-7 rows of premium center orchestra seats held for VIPs! Who the hell made that decision? Way to welcome back all the fans who waited out the strike. Anyway, a few of us just kind of walked into the section and sat down but most were a little scared to "cross the line". A few "VIPs" did arrive but I'm going to say they numbered no more than 10! Eventually they started letting others in. So some people who were way in the back of the line got to sit in these premium seats while many who had arrived at the theater much earlier were relagated to the sides and the mezz. Very poorly handled. Though I must say the ushers were quite good about identifying the few seats down front and getting people to them.
I have a funny experience to tell. I was sitting in front of 4 or 5 women who were from some place very southern. Sorry I can't identify the accent more appropriately. Anyway, they were chatting away before the show and seemed excited to be a part of it but particularly to see Angela Lansbury and Bernadette Peters. They got in this discussion about how AL must be getting up there in years. And then one of them offered that Bernadette can't be too young because she was on the Carol Burnett Show all those years ago. They talked about her appearances a bit. Well when Bernadette came out of the refrigerator. all but one of them started saying over and over again how young she was and just went on and on about it. Finally it was clear one of the group was confused when she asked "Who is that?" Her friend responded "THAT is Bernadette Peters". The confused friend responded "No, really, she is so young". And then another round between them all about how young she looked. It was quite funny though eventually I kind of wanted to tell them they needed to get over it and concentrate on the concert.
And I agree: GO SEE AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY!

Before the show started it was fun to hear the conductor, Seth Rodetsky, talk about how Bernadette made a little mistake that almost stopped the orchestra in There's No Business Like Show Business. Great also to hear Angela Lansbury sounding so fabulous.

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 12/2/2007 at 10:22:20 AM ET I waited for another radio broadcast of the concert and recorded it again, would you believe the first recording was fine except for a glitch in Bernadette's song? It's perfect now though. I've now uploaded the concert and added the conductor's anecdote about BP and also a Sweeney Todd song from Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp for those who haven't yet heard it. Would love to know what you think of it.
All who asked should have their download links by now. If I've left anyone out please PM me.

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 12/2/2007 at 10:47:55 AM ET If you've used that download accelerator programme I included in the links you will see that there is a "Save To" option there which you can change to Desktop or any other easily accessible folder on your computer. The file will also be stored in the accelerator programme itself. All my downloaded music files go straight to my iTunes folder - I must have set something in iTunes preferences. Hope that helps.

| posted: 12/2/2007 at 6:27:26 PM ET Scottie, Thank you again. I'm just listening to it now and realized I had forgotten about a somewhat funny moment. When Bernadette first appeared, she thanked the stagehands and one of them dipped her and kissed her. Obviously caught her by surprise. LOL Though I don't think he went for her lips, more like her cheek.
