Does anybody else think that this Vick needs to spend time with Bernadette so she can set him straight? Dog fighting - any act of violence or encouragement of violence against a living being - is beyond cruelty.

What's particularly disgraceful is that the NFL didn't immediately ban him for life.

We do a bit of volunteer stuff for the local animal shelter, and I've seen some absolutely heartbreaking situations, but I can barely look at the details of these dog fighting stories.
The systematic, methodical torture of innocent, helpless animals - all in the name of greed and some perverse form of "entertainment" - it's beyond comprehension. I can't understand how anyone could participate in such cruelty for two seconds, much less weeks or months or years. How does someone ever descend into a mindset so dark? I just can't comprehend. How can someone evolve out of it?
My only hope is that as stories like this become more well known that more people become more enlightened about animal welfare and take these issues seriously.

I have nothing but disgust for him. I too wish he were banned from the NFL and I think he should do some serious jail time.

As a pitbull owner, myself, I hope he gets life in prison! Pitbulls are the sweetest dogs, I just don't understand what could make a person do this. I think he should go to jail forever and have to donate all of his money to broadway barks.
What really is making me angry, though, is all the news stations showing all these videos of pitbulls fighting. That's not helping, it's only going to perpetuate this image that pitbulls are bad when they're not. Pitbulls aren't bad, it's these terrible people who are bad.

Here's an example of how some people are reacting in what I think is completely the wrong way:

That guy who wrote that article is a complete asshole (pardon the language)! That's so stupid, just because idiots like Micheal Vick train pitbulls to be bad doesn't mean that pitbulls are born as "ticking time bombs". It just makes me so sick to hear people reacting this way. You would hope that people would want to "save the pitbulls", not make them disappear forever.

Stuff like that makes me physically sick. He would get life in prison without parole if it were up to me.
