Why, with Joel Grey, at Follies.

A partial post from somone on ATC, @12:01am, 2/13/07 (about Monday evening "Follies"):
"It was one of those rare and magical evenings of theatre with as man[y] stars in the house as were on the stage - Nathan Lane (who introduced himself at the party as Margaret Whiting), Marty Short, Bernadette Peters, The Brodericks, Barbara Cook, Matt CavanaughHarvey Evans and Fred Willard just to name a few. I spoke to Steve Sondheim after and he was on Cloud Nine - thought Vicki and Victor had really as he said, "nailed it perfectly tonight."

That was one of the songs I was hoping I'd get to hear her sing at her Carnegie Hall concert since one article had said the second half was going to be Sondheim she'd never sung before or something like that.

It's such a moving song but with Bernadette's ability to convey emotion it could be really heart-wrenching. I think it would be a perfect choice for her!
I don't think I've read that interview before- does anyone know where I could find it on the internet? Cheers.

Your post got me thinking of the London Hey Mr Producer! concert in 1998 and the Side By Side By Sondheim interlude ... a shame no-one thought to wrestle the song out of the iron grip of Michael Ball and give it to Bernadette to sing. I wonder what she would have made of it.
as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

I would love to see Bernadette as Phyllis! I'm not sure if she's too Sally-like but she would tear up those songs.

Though I would be interested in seeing how she would handle "Could I Leave You?" I bet she would do it somewhat like Donna Murphy at the Sondheim birthday concert, and make it really humorous.
