Why has Ms. Peters cancelled her Sept. 14 benefit for the Detroit symphony?

From the "Detroit Free Press", 9/13/01: "the DSO postponed its...gala...because guest star Bernadette Peters, a New York resident, could not make it to Detroit."

Yes, I saw the item in the Free Press.

Is a close family member or friend missing? Couldn't she someone to drive her to Detroit?

This was a major fundraiser for the Detroit symphony.

Peters spent her life in show business and knows the axiom: The show must go on.

Well, I heard that the concert will be rescheduled, it's just that no one knows what date yet.
