I'm new to the board. I came here and felt the need to register because tonight I have downloaded and heard a quite amazing mp3 of Bernadette Peters singing Rose's Turn at the 2003 Tony Awards that really impressed me. I have always liked her (even if I know her more for her movies, since I live in Europe and have never had the chance to see her in theater), but this performance sounded really incredible. I'd like to know if it exists a video clip of it that it's possible to see or download somewhere.
Thanks anyway!
Romy
P.S Probably you all have it, but just in case someone hasn't got the chance to listen to it, here it is the mp3:

It is an amazing performance whether heard through audio or seen through video. The entire audience at Radio City Music Hall (about 3000 people) leaped to their feet at the conclusion and gave her a long standing ovation. A very unusual occurrence from a theater industry audience. I remember spontaneously jumped up and applauding in my living room.

I don't know but was it just me who said to herself at the conclusion of Bernadette's performance "Take that, Michael Reidel!"

Even listening to the mp3 I got clearly the sensation that she had to be magic that night but to read the impressions of those who saw her it's really great. Beside the video from Tony Awards, that now I'm even more motivated to find , you made me curious to see what's available of her musicals on vhs or dvd. Hopefully Amazon or other sites like that would have some.

| posted: 2/20/2006 at 3:06:31 PM ET Romy, Several of her movies are available on DVD as well as a few musicals and concerts.
I highly recommend starting with Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods, Bernadette Peters in Concert, Impromptu and Pennies From Heaven. And the Cast Recordings of her other Broadway shows are also very enjoyable. As for her solo albums, I still very much enjoy I'll Be Your Baby Tonight and her two Carnegie Hall CDs (Sondheim Etc. and Sondheim, Etc. Etc.) are also must haves for any fan.

You're right both Sunday in The Park with George and Into THe woods are available on Amazon, I think I'll start with them. About the movies, luckily I have already some of them, like Pennies from Heaven and Impromptu, that is one of all my time favourites. I think she steals the show in it, and her scenes with Judy Davis are particularly great.

It seems there are also a lot of albums not to miss (thanks again for all the suggestions). I think I'll start from the Sondheim ones. It would be the occasion to hear again her beautiful version of Not a day goes by, I listened some time ago.
