Rose, try refreshing the screen. I had to do that.

(Sister Rose-do you have the London concert DVD? She sang "My Romance" on that one and "The Way You Look Tonight." At least, I think she did. It's been a while since I've seen it, so I could just be randomly assigning songs to her.)

Those snow pictures! Wow!

Very cool. Sorry you had such a hard trip. I didn't realize you were leaving so soon after the concert or I would have offered you a ride. I figured you were spending the night. Well I'm glad everyone eventually got home safely or is Ashley still at the craps table?

I believe the final official reading was 26.8 inches in Central Park. I had to return the car today (which was interesting getting it out of the outside parking lot) and then we went to brunch. The restaurant was full. Nothing stops New Yorkers!

Check back in from time to time for more treats.

I do have the London dvd - I just meant that those two songs are "new" to us live! Exciting.

No worries Moljul - I'm always open for an adventure...just usually they are a little more entertaining.

Just from chat I've been hearing, I have a feeling that she'll be adding more "new" material before the May 1st concert - rumors are that it will be taped for PBS.

Sarah, I hope so. I am just heartsick that I cannot make that concert.

Since she was scheduled for a standards CD-maybe there will be one, recorded live. That would be fantastic too.

Well remember she was supposed to record an album in November and when this concert was first announced she said that album would be the basis for much of the concert. Of course the album was never recorded for obvious reasons but her plan for the concert probably remains the same. Of course those two songs aren't really new for her concerts. They were a part of her Carnegie Hall and London Concerts and were sung consistently during concerts during those years. Maybe she is just revisiting them.

EDIT: OOOOOO, Jenn. I like the idea of the concert turning into a live CD.

Moljul..........I am NOT still at the craps table. Oh no. I am stranded in Baltimore until midnight tomorrow night!!!! Yup. I was supposed to be home this afternoon, but the snow had other plans for me. Thank god for Mandy!!! She is letting me crash in her extra room for one extra night! Then, it is off to the airport at 5am to see if I can get on standby! Otherwise, I will be making myself comfortable in at BWI until my plane leaves at 10.00. So no..........sadly, I am not at the craps table! HA!

Anyway, I am here to post my view of the concert last night. So, what was my view you ask? Well kids.......I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!! And why don't you know, Ashley? Because I was sitting next to a bunch of crazies and laughing so hard I had to keep thinking of other things, such as errands I have to run or work I have to do, in order to keep from busting up out loud. And when I say I was laughing, I mean I was LAUGHING..............you know that kind of laughing that you haven't done since junior high....the kind of laughing where the second you look at your friend (who is also in on the joke or source of the laughter) you both just burst into uncontrollable laughter, even though moments earlier you were both perfectly composed? Yup. You know what I'm talking about. So, because I was in the midst of trying to control myself the entire night, I only remember the first three songs. Seriously. The rest is lost to me. I don't remember it. BUT, I have some good stories to tell about the people who were giving me such great amusement. Do you want to hear about the drunk redneck, the drunk Sister Rose, or the snoring octogenarian first? Oh forget it....I'll just start...

So, before the concert even starts, Sister Rose decides she needs a drink (Karen, I believe you can identify with this feeling). :-) So, she goes to the bar and gets champagne. Now, one would think that when one orders champagne, one would order a GLASS of it. Nope. What did Sister Rose come back with? A THIRST BUSTER sized cup FULL of champagne and cherries. And what did she do with all of that champage, you might be asking yourself? SHE SPILLED IT ALL OVER THE TABLE AND ALL OVER ME!!!!! Then, when trying to clean it up, she knocks over the candle sitting on the table. Luckily, Mandy jumped in and single-handedly saved Caesar's from burning to the ground. Kudos Mandy. ;-) Sister Rose wasn't done, though. Oh no. She still had yet to drink a single drink of alcohol. So, the kind waitress brought her another caraffe of champagne and it was all down hill from there.

Immediately after the second trough of champagne was brought to the table, a very cantankerous old (and I do mean ooooolllllldddd) couple was shown to the table (I shall call them Ethel and Fred for simplicity's sake). Well, not 5 minutes into the concert, Ethel begins to snore. Yes folks, I tell no lie.........SNORE. But here's the real kicker....she wasn't even sleeping. Nope. She was just sitting next to Vicki, wide awake, with her mouth open like a baby chick waiting for its worm, and breathing through her nose. Clearly, her nose did not offer a clear path to her lungs, as evidenced by the sound emanating from her sinuses, a sound that has only been heard in the jungles of deepest Africa during mating season. And if this wasn't enough, she had competition! Yes kids, I said competition. The drunk man sitting two tables behind us felt the need to express his obvious distaste for Sondheim and Bernadette by eloquently shouting, "THIS SUCKS!" every two minutes and then proceeding to snore even louder than Ethel. While his manners were infuriating and downright rude, the competing sounds of mating rhinos (which was given a full surround sound effect since Ethel was in front of me and drunk redneck man was behind me)had Sister Rose, Mandy and I competing to see who could keep a straight face the longest.

And now folks, for the grand finale.......Fred. During one of the last songs (I honestly cannot tell you which one because at this point I was trying to think of something serious and sad in order to keep my mind off of how much I wanted to just get up and leave so I could go to the lobby and let out all of my laughter) began to sing. Yes. You heard me. Sing. Well, can he sing well, Ashley? NO! His wife's nose might be able to compete with lions in labor but, my friends, Fred's vocals are king of the jungle. And they obviously moved his wife to tears because as I looked behind me to make sure the noise I was hearing really was coming from a human being, I saw Ethel wipe her eyes, and indeed her entire face, on the tablecloth. ON THE TABLECLOTH!!!!!!

And that, dear friends, is why Ashley has absolutely NO MEMORY of the evening's main attraction.

First of all, I GET NO RESPECT from these impudent youth. What can you expect? They know not the formula to fun. Eh Karen? And I was not drunk. Karen was not there to make sure that I was served enough. And who the heck would ever put champagne in a plastic tumbler? It's not my fault it spilled - I'm used to sipping the bubbly out of crystal flutes. So there.

Secondly, you left off the part when Vicki nearly decked "Fred" for talking! It was great. Don't mess with Vicki, kids, she runs the PA government.

BUT Ashley is right about everything else. My sides are sore from trying to hold in the laughter...and I felt completely sacriligious for allowing myself to be distracted from Bernadette...one could not avoid this though. It was too much.

Oh god, that is hilarious!

So, wiping your face on the table cloth is not a classy idea?

You all know I am living vicariously through you right now, and am very much regretting that I did not go to the concert. I never would have gotten the day off from work. Too many people were already out. Also driving back in the snow would have been the complete opposite of fun.

Annnnd I might have gone broke at the casino.

*I have to keep giving myself valid reasons for not attending. Otherwise I'll just be sad*

First I just want to say how fun it was to meet Mandy, PAFan, SisterRose, ANH...um, I think I'm forgetting someone.... getting home was an adventure.. all buses to NY were cancelled as of 12:30am, so me and my friend Megen ended up taking a train to Philly at 5:45am in order to get back to New York! I walked into my apartement door at 11:30 Sunday morning! By that time, it was like 'why did I go to AC?! oh, right, Bernadette - and what did she look like, what did she sing?' It seemed like the concert was weeks ago! But it was so great, she sounded amazing!! Well worth the craziness :-)
