her mother was in an independant film? I've never heard that one before! I thougth her mother didn't approve and so she never did become an actress....?

Bernadette's mother did some acting when Bernadette was a teenager but not much. She apparently was billed as Marge Peters using the professional last name that Bernadette has. Bernadette's mother's mother (Bernadette's grandmother) didn't approve of being an actress so Bernadette's mother didn't pursue it when she was a young woman but apparently did a bit when she was married with kids (and no longer under the rule of her mother, I would suppose). Though it seems like it didn't amount to much. You have to wonder, did her mother not have much in the talent department or was she "born too soon and started too late".
