heehee! I was just watching this programme "50 greatest comedy films" and the jerk was something in the 30s i think but i can't remember...anyway....carl reiner said that he whispered to steve to lick bernadette's face instead of kissing her like the script said and he just did it. So the reaction we see from Bernadette is complete suprise - watch it again and see the look of shock!

Thanks for that tid-bit of information! I was watching the movie on AMC on Saturday and wondered if it was in the script or not. I love that movie especially that scene and the ukeleli/trumpet song!
