Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 11/27/2005 at 1:27:27 PM ET Question: How did Broadway star Bernadette Peters meet her husband, Michael Wittenberg, who recently died in a helicopter crash?
Answer: One evening in 1995, as Peters waited for a date in front of her Manhattan building, Wittenberg, an investment banker 14 years her junior, tried to start a conversation: He asked if she could sew a missing button on his tux. She countered that she had no needle or thread. The next day, he left his business card and a button with her doorman. They were wed in July 1996 at Mary Tyler Moore's home. Sadly, Peters, 57, was widowed in September.

Unfortunately I don't normally buy the NY Sunday paper that contains the Parade Magazine and didn't get a chance to get out yesterday to see if anyone had "Sunday leftovers".
