And I don't want anyone to think that I don't find Stella to be a cutie. I think she's one of the nicest looking of her breed. Some breed experts even think one of mine might be part English Staffie, but being mixed with a doxie she came out more missle shaped.

I met Stella backstage at Broadway Barks a couple of years ago. I used to be much more involved with the event and would sometimes find myself backstage. Well this one year I ended up standing next to Bernadette's dogwalker who had brought Stella and Kramer to the event. Bernadette has mentioned her dogwalker's name is Julian and I'm assuming this was Julian but I never caught his name that day. I do remember the rather adorable english accent he had. Anyway, he was talking to me for a while and everyone was walking by and just gushing over Stella. I actually started to feel bad for Kramer as he wasn't getting a lot of attention. Stella is just very vivacious and attracts attention. So everyone was asking what shelter Stella was with because she was so cute and Julian had to keep telling them that she was Bernadette's dog and most definitely not up for adoption. LOL He was a nice guy and told me that Stella was quite an adorable little girl and "insists on sleeping with her Mommy and Daddy" (okay imagine that line with an adorable english accent). Did I mention he had an adorable english accent?
I also remember that when Patty came backstage for a moment and Kramer and Stella saw her, they ran over and jumped up on her legs and Patty said "Hello Kids". It was cute. And a little bit later when Stella saw Michael she let out this VERY loud and high pitched squeal. Anyway, they were both very cute dogs but Stella just appears to be the center of attention wherever she goes.
So that's my story.

| posted: 10/21/2005 at 1:03:11 PM ET I'm completely blanking on where I heard this (perhaps someone here can name the article) but I remember Bernadette telling a story about how when Stella meets little dogs (ones that are smaller than she is), she gets down on her belly and scoots her way over to the little dog. Almost likes she wants to be friends with them and doesn't want to scare them so she brings herself down to their size. When the dogs have a chance to sniff and become friends, Stella then stands up. Did anyone else hear this? I'm not making it up, am I?
But I agree. A wonderful ambassador for the breed and proof that even when a strong and loyal dog is abused early in life (as Stella obviously was), a lot of love, affection and proper treatment can create a wonderful and affectionate dog.

From: northern VA | posted: 10/21/2005 at 1:12:31 PM ET I don't know, moljul. I hesitated to post, because I was wondering why I thought she wrote a letter to the dog. Stella sounds terrific, but she can't read, right?
I'm glad you said it was a book for charity.
