For those of you that are animal lovers (like I am), I have some disturbing news. Mayor Bloomberg has announced that he has cut NYC's budget for animal shelters! Shelters that were once open 24 hours a day will now only be open 12 hours a day. It has already been repoterd that animals have been left on doorsteps and tied up in front of shelters all night long because there was nobody there to bring them in. Just imagine what will happen to them once winter comes! And, due to the cut backs, there will also be an increase of animals that are put to death manually.
Please, if you can, adopt a dog or cat; or, donate money, balnkets, food, anything you can to the shelters! Dogs and cats are just like people, except they (the animals) are compassionate!

and unfortunately animals are considered expendable by too many people. Help out if you can in any way you can. :-)

that's so sad!! i help out in shelters from time to time, and i got both of my animals (cat and a dog) there...one of the reasons that i love bernadette is because of all her work with animals!!!!

Please remember - "A Dog is for life,not just Christmas"
I trust Mayor Bloomberg will reverse this decision following successful lobbying.
