I was just wondering who went to the Broadway Flea Market this past weekend? I was there pretty much all day!

I didn't buy much; just a few cd's and a signed poster from AGYG.
It was so funny seeing all of those actors (male and female) walking around in costumes...That guy that was dressed like Carol Channing was there all day! and the guy that was dressed as Cher. LOL

The Grand Auction was exciting. I didn't bid on anything though, because I have like no money, and some things were going over $6000!

One of the first packages was something to do with Jennifer Holiday (from Dreamgirls..for those who aren't sure who she is), so she came on stage to explain it...OMG, the prices kept going up, and then when they would slow down she would sing! Everytime she sang, these 2 guys that were trying to win would start outbidding each other! She looked like she was going to cry from being so happy.

I just hope I have so much money one day, that I can go to auctions and things like that, and not worry about dropping a few thousand dollars...especially when the money is going to charity.

I was there! (but I saw you, so you know that ) It was the first time I've ever been in NY for it, and it was a lot of fun!! I bought a LOT, including an autographed AGYG poster, a Goodbye Girl playbill for $1, and some other stuff.

I'm sorry if I'm annoying by asking these questions but I'm only 15 and don't know a lot about all this. So, where is the Broadway flea market and what do they sell there? Also, when is it usually? Thanks!

Some people change your life forever. Thank you, *Bernadette*

LOL I know Molly...you need to come every year for it. I think you definitely need to move to NY! *teehee

In response to what it's all about: It's an event (sort of like Broadway Barks...in the sense that it raises money for charity; in this case Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids). It takes place in Shubert Alley and also extends along 44th street (the street is blocked off all day). There are a bunch of tables set up (mostly by particular Broadway Shows...like Les Miz, Chicago, Phantom, etc.), and they sell items to raise money. You can get a lot of vintage Playbills, Posters, autographed pictures, costumes from shows, cd's, VHS tapes, etc. It's really great for the ultimate Broadway Memorabilia collector. You can win tickets to Broadway shows. There is also silent auctions all day, as well as a celebrity table (where celebrities from Broadway and telelvision come all day and sign autographs and take pictures with fans...Bernadette wasn't there yesterday, in case you were wondering LOL). Plus there is a grand auction at the end, like I mentioned before; I can't afford to be part of it, but it's fun to watch.
It's usually the same time every year (one of the last Sunday's in September); and it's really just a nice way to spend the day.
