Next for Lansbury -- Murder, She Laughed?
Sun Mar 7, 2004 11:14 PM ET
By Cynthia Littleton
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Angela Lansbury has a message for the town's comedy writers: she's in the market for a half-hour television series.
"It something I've never done. It seems a shame not to," she said matter-of-factly Friday during an "Evening With . . ." session held at the DGA Theater -- part of the Museum of Television & Radio's 2004 William S. Paley Television Festival.
Reflecting on her 60-plus years in showbiz, Lansbury told her worshipful audience that she misses performing in front of a live audience and thinks multicamera sitcom work could be a pretty close approximation. And as an actress, she's ready for it, Lansbury added, noting the many stages of life
she has played over the years.

"ADOPTED (ABC) - Kevin Wheatley ("Champagne Society") has joined the cast while Ted Wass ("I'm With Her") is set to direct the comedy pilot, about a thirtysomething writer whose life is turned upside down when his biological mom (Christine Baranski) shows up on his doorstep one day, resulting in his adoptive (Bernadette Peters) and birth mothers comically competing for his attention. Wheatley will actually play the lead role, Lloyd Leaf, in the 20th Century Fox Television-based project. Industry trades previously indicated Andrew Walker was cast in said part. It's not clear if Walker was actually cast in a different role (such as Tucker Leaf, Lloyd's younger brother) or if he was replaced by Wheatley. In any case, Kevin Abbott, Peter Principato and Paul Young are the executive producers of the project, while Brian Dobbins also serves as a co-executive producer. Wass will direct from a script by creators and co-executive producers Jim Rash and Nat Faxon. Jodi Lyn O'Keefe also stars."

From: London | posted: 3/25/2005 at 10:32:46 AM ET I've a question -if it shows on ABC does that mean it will get shown on ABC1 which i get on my digibox. i think i might be like bbc america which just shows bits and bobs from our bbc 1 and 2. ABC1 shows Moonlighting, Ellen, Mad about you, 8 simple rules, daddio, Hope and faith, unhappily ever after and general hospital.

For instance, I very much enjoy one of your British sitcoms, My Family, on BBC America but I'm only able to see the 3rd season and I think in England, you are currently watching the 5th season.
The shows you mentioned are quite old programs for the most part and those that aren't so old, I'm guessing you are only able to watch the episodes from the beginning. Not to mention, this pilot could easily be purchased by another network.

| posted: 3/25/2005 at 3:16:38 PM ET I recently saw an episode on British Airways that seemed to be of the current (5th season) and I must say its losing its luster a bit but I've enjoyed the first 3 seasons very much. The father Robert Lindsay is quite the song and dance man and has appeared on Broadway. And who doesn't love Zoe Wanamaker.
