Two community collaborations and an impressive roster of Broadway, country, R&B and retro rock artists take center stage next season on the Alabama Symphony's 2005-2006 SuperPops season.
Headlining the six-concert series is Broadway, movie, television and recording star Bernadette Peters. Known for her big, expressive voice and commanding stage presence, Peters has won two Tony Awards, three Drama Desk Awards and a Golden Globe. In 1995 she became the youngest person ever to be inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.
Peters, who turns 57 on Monday, was last scheduled to appear in Birmingham in February 1999, but canceled when she took the lead in a revival of "Annie Get Your Gun." Her ASO appearance is slated for April 22, 2006.
"She has always been one of my favorites," says ASO resident conductor Christopher Confessore, who saw her in "Gypsy" recently in New York. "She has such personality and range and puts on a great show."

Isn't that where Bernadette got the chicken parmesan with american cheese? Or was that Arkansas? Oklahoma?
