I agree, the element of Sam Mendes being the director is also a huge attraction. He is VERY VERY hot right now.

Yes, but I beat you by 6 minutes!! LOL Just Kidding. I seem to run into the same problem all the time. No one responds so I finally do just as about 3 other people are thinking the same thing. :-)

Well, this is just my opinion, but I don't think Gypsy is going to do that well (as much as I do want it to).
It is a show that has been revised to death, the only big name they seem to have so far is Bernadette Peters...and although some of you have already made a good argument that Rose is not just a small part, let's face it, the show is called "Gypsy" not "Mama Rose"; they need more pull. As has been stated already, Broadway is not in the best financial condition (ever since September 11th.) I really don't think the show will run for more than a year and a half (but, I really hope to be proved wrong). I'll be doing my part by seeing it as much as possible. and hopfully it will get a few TONY's that will help it along.

As far as you guys discussing earlier (about Bernadette's personal financial status), I really think you have, again, touched on a subject that is nobody's business but hers. It is NOBODY'S place to be talking about how much she makes, how many houses she has, or what type of clothing (top designer or not) she wears! I don't mean to sound like I'm nagging, but I really don't think it's right when topics like this (about Bernadette's personal life) are brought onto the board.

Christine:

I'm the first to agree with you about discussing aspects of Bernadette's personal live; that said, however:

(1) her salary for AGYG was discussed in a newspaper article some time ago; I happened to remember a bit of the article;

(@) she has herself, repeatedly, on talk shows and in magazine and newspaper interviews, talked about dseigner clothing, the fact that they have a house in Florida, and has even mentioned the apartment in New York.

(3) I don't know where one draws the line between the personal and the public-I think we all just have to use our best judgment and show respect.

Jean

(These are really the kind of coversations that are'nt too good on the Internet but would be nice over a mocha latte)

The show is named Gypsy but Gypsy is not the central character. Never has been. It is a show about Gypsy Rose Lee's mother's antics getting her children into show business. The role of Gypsy/Louise is very much a supporting character. No one ever remembers who played Louise (except for Natalie Wood in the movie) because the show is all about Rose.

I agree Jean. I don't think we stepped on any ground that was particularly personal. Someone asked if she was a wealthy woman. She has found success in show business and lives a very comfortable life so the evidence would show she is wealthy. Conversations about what she pays for her clothes or her homes, I would agree would be bordering on inappropriate.

Nuff Said! :-)

I understand Jean, and I do agree with you. I know that Bernadette has referenced these topics herself, on talk shows and such, I just meant that it was her making the references, not anyone else.

You're absolutely right, these are things to discuss over dinner and drinks, or at parties...not on the internet.

Again, I was just giving my opinion. I would never dictate to others what they should say, as I know, nobody here does that. I realize that trying to convey thoughts over the internet is difficult, because we cannot also convey our tone of voice or gestures...so, just so you all know, I type in a peaceful manner. <3<3 LOL

I just have to apologize to the other board members, because I know you all don't want to deal with the petiness (I don't think I spelt that right..LOL) that goes on for certain topics; but I have to say this:

moljul, I don't know you...You may be the nicest person on earth (I will give you the benefit of the doubt), but you have a way of constantly correcting others in a bossy mannerism. Now, like I said before, it is impossible to convey our tones of voice over the internet, and I am all for correcting information that is wrong; but there's a way to say things, and there's a way to say things (You're an adult, so I'm sure you understand what I mean). I don't want drag this topic along...I just wanted to get that off my chest. And I apologize to you, as well Kevin...I will not post like this again.

This must be beat up on Moljul week! First it was Kathleen Turner's naked body and now this! What next!? Hey, remember this is the Bernadette Peters fan site. We should all take a lesson from the great lady herself and be as nice as we can. It can't hurt.

I'm not sure what post or posts you are referring to but my intention is never to sound bossy - I am only giving my opinion. But it's kind of a pain to always right "In my opinion" or "No offense". And since no one else notified me that I was God I'm going to assume I'm not, therefore nothing I ever say can be anything else but my opinion. :-) Though I agree at times it is hard to "read" people's tones. One of the negative points of the internet, I guess. I assure you I just get into discussions because I love to do just that -discuss things and discuss them to death. And discussions are much more fun and interesting when it involves different opinions.

While I know this probably makes no difference to anyone else, I'm very embarrassed that I wrote "right" when I meant to write "write" in my last post. Okay, I'm done now. :-)

Well thanks. I didn't realize that but I guess my stupid post is enough of a correction. I'm just very anal retentive about grammar and spelling so when I miss something, it annoys me. :-)

LOL OMG, I know. I am such a Grammar freak too! LOL
I'm not so bad when people make typing errors; but it drives me crazy when people speak incorrectly....like really ghetto (of course I come from NYC, so you can just imagine what I hear)

in my schooling and in my line of business i've learned to speak properly and with poise and etiquette...and it drives me insane when ppl speak with improper grammar...especially when trying to hold conversations with them... now spelling on the other hand needs improvement when typing in a hurry.
