We all know that Bernadette doesn't like the nickname "Bernie"... i agree with her. So what should her nickname be, or her DIVA name be?
Like, as listed on Broadway World:
Bette Midler: The Divine Miss M
Barbra Streisand: Babs
and so on...
what do you all think?

It's meant affectionately, and, in my opinion, is completely harmless. Sorry to those who can't stand it or consider it offensive. It's just a decades long habit.

Unless we want to get into "Na" or "Dette" which are probably too obscure and off-the-wall for consideration. I mean really, if there were a good nickname, it would most likely have been invented by now, don't you think?

From: Arizona | posted: 8/8/2004 at 12:40:04 AM ET Most people who have any interest in theatre or Broadway refer to her by her first name only. Doesn't that kind of qualify as a "diva" status title?

From: pennsylvania | posted: 8/8/2004 at 1:22:22 AM ET i have a blown up framed pic of myself w/bernadette outside of gypsy and i kept it in the living room of my apartment last year. when ppl came in and saw it, i would jokingly refer to bernadette as my mom. now its kind of stuck and everyone calls her that when theyre talking to me which i like and consider an amazing compliment. not that my mom would be a good diva name for her but it is a sort of nickname in my circle
