Yeah, that's true. They reassembled in May 1989 to tape the show for PBS.

ooo wouldn't it be nice if the former cast of Gypsy reassembled for a taping!? It can happen.
There is a petition going around online for people to sign to request a taping of The Boy From Oz before Hugh leaves. Maybe someone can start one to have the cast of Gypsy reassemble for a taping.

Yes, I would definitely sign it,but Who is going to origanize the petition? How does one go about it? I miss the show so much, also, and I only saw it three times! What was there about this production that so captured our hearts and loyalty ? Bernadette weaving her special magic,I guess. Now I feel lonely---HELP!!

Does anyone know how many Tonys the original Into The Woods won? I know Joanna Gleason won one, but any others? I'm writing a paper on Folktales and their importance/impact for class and thought I'd include the success of Into The Woods in it.

The original production won three Tonys; for best actress, best score, and best book. The 2002 production won two, for best revival and best lighting design.

Betty Buckley is quite the diva in the bad way. My voice teacher now works with Rob Fisher for City Center Encores and Betty came into their office a few months ago and demanded that Rob Fisher add Gypsy to their lineup of concerts so she could play Rose, outraged that she wasn't asked to play it on broadway. From what I heard, Rob Fisher just rolled his eyes.

That would have been an interesting little scene to watch. Thanks for the "dish."
Call me shallow, but I love hearing about that kind of stuff.
