From: Ohio | posted: 6/20/2004 at 1:53:00 AM ET Thanks Karen! That's why I love this bored...everyone seems to be so open minded and have we have such great conversations. Sometimes it's difficult to find people to rant to about this stuff-especially dealing with Bernadette because they don't always understand or agree.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/20/2004 at 11:24:19 AM ET Cuteoperaboi, I was rereading your comments, and I just have to say how glad I am that you mentioned Audra McDonald. For some reason, we've never really talked much about her here, but she's such a genius of a performer. Like Bernadette, she's the real thing. Her CDs are amazing; I listen to them constantly. And it was really only through her that I became familiar with the music of Ricky Ian Gordon in the first place. Her championing the good, serious, younger composers around has really been an education to me.
I remember watching the tiny little scene between Bernadette and Audra in It Runs in the Family, and thinking "I wish they would forget about that obnoxious family, and devote the rest of the film to the relationship between these two characters."

Registered: 6/21/2002 | posted: 6/21/2004 at 11:38:30 PM ET there was a lighter feeling in the air...more fum kinda like having a huge weight lifted and it seemed like the audience was lost further into the world of gypsy and mama. does that make sense?

I was sensing exactly the same feeling, but couldn't put it into such accurate and sharp words, so, thank you, thank you!
As for which show, I would vote for Sunday in the park with George and Gypsy.
Several weeks ago I ran to the music library and watched "Sunday in the park" in the media room, cried and smiled and touched for so many times... I guess it's a good thing that I didn't get the chance to watch the live performance of "Sunday in the park with George", otherwise I'd be sent straight to the hospital...
