when navin is in the bath and marie is writing a goodbye note, they are both singing. On the video I have, they are singing in their own voices but its badly dubbed but when I saw it on tv (bbc 1, may)they were singing a completely different song and their mouths match the words they are singing!
has anyone else seen this?

they say bernadette's wonderful..........and she is

yeah- I have noticed that too!! About 3 years ago, I rented the movie, and they were singing one song, and then when I bought the movie they sang a different song! I was so confused!! That was like 3 years ago and I still haven't figured it out Good luck!

I have noticed the song being different as well; not only that, but the VHS version and the TV version have quite a few different scenes. It's not just, like, they took some scenes out for TV. The length in time is the same....they just have different scenes for some reason!

The song is "Tonight You Belong To Me", an old song from the twenties by Billy Rose. Patience and Prudence had a hit with it in the fifties, and Frances Faye used to do a raucous version in her club act which is available on CD.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I've never seen the baseball things you mention in the film either. But, I do have a paperback book of The Jerk, and that includes photos of Bernadette with the bat and the uniform. We talked about the book here about a year ago. It sounds like there's a lot of deleted and alternate footage around. I wish they would release all of it on a DVD.

I just assumed all that baseball stuff was strictly promo stuff but never really filmed. Kind of the like the blue dress that Bernadette wore for a lot of the AGYG promotional pictures. The dress was never a part of her wardrobe in the show.
