From: NYC | posted: 6/16/2004 at 3:19:33 PM ET I heard Andrea and her teen-age daughter sing last year at Broadway Under the Stars. I thought Andrea had a wonderful voice, but her daughter really struggled - I think she had stage fright. I'm trying to imagine "Annie" being "Mama Rose" - I'm not quite there yet, but I know there were a lot of naysayers when it came to Bernadette taking on Rose - and boy did she ever take it on!!!!

They did it on Broadway...Too bad about the overture and the "tech difficulties".....sounds like the first hour (well 3, if you include the 7:30 "START") were very much a farce...wish i could have been there, every production after BP's is JUST a show..its no longer GYPSY...

From: Boston | posted: 6/20/2004 at 9:29:37 PM ET I didn't see that article, but some productions use a stuffed lamb...and I think it can work...because its sad that a teenager would still be receiving stuffed animals, so if you look at in that sense. Like Rose still treated her like a baby.

| posted: 6/21/2004 at 1:16:48 AM ET I read that for a regional production they once used a sheep and it kept making noise into the microphone everytime Louise tried to sing.

Registered: 3/14/2004 | posted: 6/21/2004 at 1:21:01 AM ET it does make sense to use a stuffed one for the effect of Rose treating her daughters like babies, even at their age, plus the fact that they mess on stage, and would make noises.......i know the lambs wore diapers in the BP version....did anyone catch a show where the lamb upstaged tammy (like by making sounds)

| posted: 6/21/2004 at 2:00:06 AM ET The first time I saw Gypsy the lamb wouldn't stop licking Tammy's face and she was trying so hard not to laugh. The second time the lamb was trying to pull out of her arms.
