OK, I haven't seen Wicked yet, but I've been wanting to for some time now, so I might be lucky enough to go for my Birthday! I'm looking forward to Idina's performance (even if she hadn't won the Tony) and as for Chenoweth, she is leaving soon, so I don't know if I'll be able to see her in the role. If not, Jennifer Laura Thompson will be taking over the role, performing in it...how do you think she'll be as Glinda....? Her voice, look, etc.
Peace Every one,

ps and YES, BP as Glinda wouldn't be too off either!

From: Florida | posted: 6/13/2004 at 4:09:55 PM ET I haven't seen the show either but I have the soundtrack and I want to see it badly. I think that Jennifer Laura Thompson might be good in the role by looking at her picture. However I personally don't think that anyone could really do better than Kristen Chenoweth but the girl they have decided to replace her with does seem like she could be good in the role of Galinda/Glinda.
P.S- I read that Idina Menzell will be taking some time off in June and July to film a movie.

| posted: 6/13/2004 at 5:07:25 PM ET Idina will be out of Wicked the last couple of weeks in June. I believe she starts again on July 6th (which is a Tuesday).
And, Kristin will be out on June 26th the evening performance (not the matinee) and 27th. I might just go see it one of those days to see how 2 understudies hold the show together.
I think Jennifer Laura Thompson is a good choice if someone HAS to take over as Galinda. I wish Kristin was staying longer though.
I've seen Wicked 3 times already, and I have a ticket to Kristin and Nobert's last show on July 18th.
It's an excellent production worth seeing.

According to playbill.com and broadway.com Idina will be out of the role of Elphana June 15-July 2...So Idina should be back in as Elphaba Saturday July 3 at the 2:00 performance...she will continue to stay with the show until January 2, 2005

I'm sure replacing someone as beloved as Chenoweth will be tough, since she'll be under a lot of scrutiny from the show's almost fanatical fans. Interesting to see what happens.

From: New York, NY | posted: 6/13/2004 at 11:30:38 PM ET I have seen Jennifer several times. She is absolutely amazing. I know this is going to spark a lot of contreversy by the following statemtn I must make: Jennifer Laura Thompson is perfect for Glinda, and I think she will be even better than Kristen Chenoweth. She has a similar look to Chenoweth, except that she is much younger (as far as I can base off of looks alone). Jennifer has a perfect voice for the role. She has a gorgeous soprano (Kristen's soprano, however, is as good as it gets). The main difference will be in the beling sections. Jennifer has a much stronger belt, and it is also not as shrill and nasaly as Kristen's. I know JLT will be thrilling to see in this role, you WON'T regret seeing her! She has the comic timing of Lucille Ball and can work up a storm on a stage. She will be funny, fresh, and exciting as Glinda. You have my guarantee!

From: Texas | posted: 6/14/2004 at 12:15:34 AM ET I loved wicked! The day that my fligt arrived I had tickets to see it - something majorly exciting and entertaining was going to have to happen in order to keep me awake. Needless to say, I was awake for hours after it! I even went back the next day to get the autographs that I didn't get to get the day i was there. It's phenomenal!

I have a feeling there is some kind of bug or something going around the Gershwin. Idina was in act 1, but got sick and left during intermission. Same thing happened to Kristin at the matinee, so of course she was out for the evening show all together, Joel was already out, and as far as I know Norbert called out that day.

While there are a fair number of folks who see Wicked to see Idina or Kristin, etc. don't you think most tourists haven't a clue of who is in what --- particularly something as commercially popular as Wicked?
