From: New York, NY | posted: 6/6/2004 at 1:25:57 PM ET The recent Broadway production of GYPSY starring Bernadette Peters was originally slated to play London's West End and then transfer to New York for a Broadway run. However, plans were changed, and Ms. Peters was to play Rose on Broadway and then transfer to London. Well, she did it in New York... why aren't plans set for her to transfer to the West End? I think that early 2005 should see Bernadette Peters in GYPSY in London's West End. The show has not played London since Angela Lansbury's revival in the early 1970's. Ms. Peters was never better on stage than in the final months of GYPSY and I think a new production starring Ms. Peters in London would be a huge success. Then you can start thinking about a US National Tour, return engagement.

From: London | posted: 6/6/2004 at 3:02:01 PM ET Please everyone keep their fingers crossed that this will happen because I've NEVER seen Bernadette in the flesh and I'm not likely to in the near future if she doesn't make it across the pond. Come on - its only fair that she starts "spreadin' it around...you either have it, or you've had it!" I think we can all agree shes certainly got "it"
they say bernadette's wonderful..........and she is

| posted: 6/6/2004 at 3:54:26 PM ET I think Gypsy must have been an amazing experience for Bernadette, but I would love to see her do some New stuff...particularly on Broadway. Her last two shows were revivals (great as they were); she needs to create a new character.

| posted: 6/9/2004 at 4:27:14 PM ET I have been thinking a bit about this possibility - taking the show to London. It seems like it would be a very good idea, financially. I think the London audiences would be very thrilled and accepting of this production. It hasn't played there as much and I'm going to guess it not as highly scrutinized as it is in the US. It seems Bernadette has a lot of fans there that have seen her on her few London appearances. If they made it a limited engagement I bet they would do great business. It seems like it would be cheaper to do than a multi-city US tour - though that is just a guess on my part. Even if they do a US tour, I can't imagine Bernadette would do that much of it and I'm not sure it would make a lot of money without her. Seems like they could go to London for a few months and make a lot of money which would help in making back the initial investment. Anyway, just my thoughts.

From: Texas | posted: 6/9/2004 at 4:36:24 PM ET I think a show in London would be great for the show, Yes. But I personally would rather see it go on tourin the US, only because I have sooooo many aquaintances that want to see it for the first time or again. I would love to see it again, and if it goes to London instead of a tour, then that minimizes my chances there. I think it'd be cool if they did the tour and included Europe in it, specifically London.

I mean Angela Langsbury toured with the show and she won the Tony.(DO NOT TAKE THAT THE WRONG WAY. WE ALL KNOW BP SHOULD'VE WON) Well i would really love to see it come to Chicago if it would tour.

From: Texas | posted: 6/9/2004 at 8:30:31 PM ET Yeah it pretty much is on her shoulders. And I agree that if she's not in it, Whether it be a tour or a london show, it probably won't do as well. I would just love to see it again, especially if it comes anywhere near texas

From: Texas | posted: 6/10/2004 at 12:05:44 AM ET I could see her in the glass menagerie - however it's not at all a favorite of mine...But i guess that comes with the territory of actually being in it (i was in it in HS). I think it'd be awesome if she would do a straight role, or even character in a play.
