me and my friend really wanna go see gypsy...and we decided to ask our moms now so we could go see it early on. well, they said that they don't really know what the plot is, and all they know is that its about a stripper, and they said if there's not more of a plot, we can't go. (we're both 13.)so can someone plz give me an accurate description of what its really about? i know theres more to it than the stripper thing and i wanna gooo!

Well it is based on the memoirs of the stripper Gypsy Rose Lee but it is more about her demanding stage mother's drive to get her and her sister into show business. The stripping doesn't really come until close to the end. You may want to rent the movie version of Gypsy with Rosalind Russel and Natalie Wood. It's not a very good adaption of it but I think your mom can see it is not all about stripping. Of course with Sam Mendes directing, this stage version will probably be much grittier, sexier and possible a tad more adult.
