From Internet Network: 64.12.105.x | posted: 8/14/2002 at 3:59:22 PM ET Just saw Bernadette on "Regis" this morning where she announced when she said she'll be in "Gypsy", one of my favorite musicals. She said she's gonna playe the 'Mama Rose" character; made famous by Ethel Merman, Rosalind Russell, and Bette Midler. But she still looks young enough where I think she could play the "Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee" character. What do any of you out there think?

Some people change your life forever. Thank you, *Bernadette*

| posted: 8/14/2002 at 4:05:34 PM ET As young as she looks for her age, in answering your question, I would have to say a big NO! Louise (Gypsy Rose Lee) is 15-25 during the musical. Bernadette doesn't look remotely near that age. She is perfect for Rose. Past Roses have been too old looking in my opinion. She is supposed to be about 35 when the show opens and I guess, goes to 45 by the end. For that role, Bernadette looks perfect.

From Internet Network: 24.193.1.x | posted: 11/23/2002 at 3:31:36 PM ET I actually work for a broadway ticketer. Tix are not yet on sale, I would anticipate a late jan early feb date for tix to go on sale. If it's playing at the shubert (and prolly is, chicago IS changing theaters as of 1/18) then you will be able to purchase tix through telecharge.com I advise purchasing your tix as early as possible as the top tix sell out VERY quickly...for example for man of lamancha I'm going to have to buy tix for late jan to get decent seats (luckily I live in nyc and can be flexible). I also suggest front mezz seats (still as expensive as orchestra) over orchestra as you end up with a better view of the stage and where you sit isn't as important (ie over on the side is just as good as center).
I haven't heard anything more about the show, but I'm sure it will be fabulous.

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 11/25/2002 at 6:51:34 PM ET Yeah, I read on Playbill.com this morning that Kate Buddeke will play Mazeppa. I'm so happy for her!!Casting for this role was VERY specific and should I say, picky( which in my opinion, is a good thing!) I know of several people who went as far as to audition for Sam Mendes a few weeks ago for the role of Mazeppa. I'm very happy to see them taking their time with auditioning and casting to be sure they have cast the "right" people for each role. I can't wait to see Kate in this role!
