I was wondering if anyone has any monologue ideas for me to do. I need one for my drama class as soon as possible. It can be a musical or play. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Neil Simon is always good. I did one this year from Lost in Yonkers. Also, Louise's monologue from gypsy is also good. I learned in class that what makes a good monologue is that you 1. have a problem 2. Illustrate that problem and 3. Make sure that you want a solution from the person you are talking to, or that you come up with one yourself.
The most important part about the whole thing is what you want from that other person...not just telling a story or reciting a long monologue.

I have no clue as to what monologue you might do; however, there are loads of books that might be helpful. Of course, I don't know if you can get hold of one in time! Here's a link to the Drama Book Shop:

Search for "monologue" and you'll find hundreds of books!

If you want to use Louise's monologue from Gypsy, PM me and I'll send it to you. Or if you need anything else from Gypsy, I have the script right here. (signed by our favorite broadway star)

How about a scene from "Steel Magnolias?" lol I love that movie (though it's actually a play). It's a great mix of both comedy and drama, so you'll have a large selection of scene material...plus you can lay on a Southern Accent for fun.

Be careful with Southern accents-there's not just one! Just don't use the Steel Magnolias movie as a reference-lovely movie, but the accents are all over the place. It was shot in Natchitoches,so the area really is as lovely as it looks in the movie.

Just a friendly reminder from one of the token Southerners on the board. Don't want to spoil anyone's fun,but these things are noticeable-especially if the movie is set in your state! Just as I might not notice inaccuracies in a film set in a particular region of Canada or Great Britain,in New Jersey,etc-but people living there would notice. And it bugs them too and annoys them, even though they think they should really get over it.

Jenn <--- Louisiana German coast accent, which was more definite when I was younger (nothing close to a drawl!)

Thank you all I have the gypsy script right here with me also so I don't need anything from that. I think I'm going to do the monologue before rose's turn
