Hey all,

I was wondering if 13 people could take part in my poll for my Honors Government class. The first 5 questions are mine, while the other 4 questions pertain to my partner in class. (I need to ask people outside of my school community, I find this to be the most convient way of doing that).

I ask that you please also give the following info for demographics:

-age
-gender
-religious affiliation
-(there is something that i can't remember that pertains to the last 4 questions on the poll...I shall update this again later when I ask my partner).

Here it is:

1. How strongly do you think that people should be able to practice freely in what they believe in?

a. It is okay as long as it doesn't attract negative attention (this is yes)
b. It is quite essential (this is a STRONG YES)
c. They should, it's freedom of speech, and we live in a society where there is religious tolerance (this is somewhat yes)
d. I don't feel strongly AT ALL with this issue.

2. How strongly do you think [public] schools should teach creationism &/or evolutionism?

a. Public schools should teach creationism &/or evolutionism
b. Creationism, well that's what private schools w/ religious affiliations are for. So no, just teach evolutionism.
c. Evolutionism, -no, because what if it will offend someone? (Parent, student, etc.) So maybe creationism to accomodate those who are religious.
d. No, don't teach either.

3. Should the gov't. be allowed to teach students of a religous nature (in public schools)? (teach a little bit of religion, but of various kinds)

a. Yes- it would be nice for students to learn a little of various religions
b. No- (just no in general ..not relating to separation of church and state)
c. No- it contradicts separation of church and state
d. Yes (yes in general, according to your personal reasons)

4. In what way should [public] schools be allowed to blend religion in?

a. Pledge of Allegiance
b. Moment of Silence
c. Other (ex.- Prayer Service or other)
d. NONE.

5. Who should decide how far schools should go in terms of religion in public schools and what is taught and the depth of it?

a. Government
b. Religious institutions
c. The school itself
d. The People

-------------
The other questions for my partner:

1. Should there be limits on how much to collect for lawsuits? Y or N

2. Which of the following is a more justifiable reason to gain $?
a. medical lawsuits (any)
b. getting hurt on someone else's property
c. personal property damage
d. obese people suing food companies

3. which measurement of $ sounds most reasonable to gain in lawsuit for medical malpractice?
a. thousands
b. ten thousands
c. hundred thousands
d. millions

4. which would u sue for?
a. cancer from tobacco
b. being in an accident w/ the other having no insurance to pay for u'r damages
c. surgery of the heart on the wrong ventricle
d. destruction of private property

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR PARTICIPATING IN MY POLL! :-D

Take care,
Stacy

One more thing, if u feel comfortable replying in the PM, or by email, feel free to do so, otherwise u can reply to the poll by replying here in the board.

Thank you!
(I will need replies THIS EVENING 10.19.03)...Sorry I posted this last night, I've been so busy w/ colleges and recitals

Once I recieve 13 answers, I shall post about when the poll will close.

But if ANYONE is intrested, please reply...I really hate asking this on this forum, but I need to have 13 randomly selected people outside of my school community (out of the 25 total that i have to ask).

Take care,
Stacy
