I have been to Rome, Padua (also known as Padova), Milan, Assisi, Florence, and Venice.
I must say that Venice was my favorite. I love water, and I happened to be there in the Spring, so the sun was just sparkling off the canals. Florence was quite magnificent as well. The buildings are so amazingly historic. I wish I spoke Italian because I would live there. lol
I wasn't very impressed with Milan. To me it was like being home.

Oooohhh....Positano...I am dying to go there after seeing it in Under the Tuscan Sun (basically the Amalfi Coast in general.) It is at the top of the list of places I want to visit.

If I'm remembering correctly, isn't Positano where Bernadette went on her honeymoon? (she mentioned it once on the Regis Philbin show)

Yes, I do remember her mentioning that...and it was funny beacuse I had never heard of the town before watching that movie. Then, about a week later, I get a copy of some old Regis episodes and she mentioned they went there for their honeymoon. It was just odd because a town I'd never heard of was mentioned twice in about a 2 week period of time. It looks absolutely gorgeous there!

I loved Under The Tuscan Sun. It's such a great, romantic movie. I thought it had so many important life messages in it. Anyone who hasn't seen this movie should go rent it! I don't necessarily know if some of the younger posters would enjoy it (but I don't know everyone's tastes. I personally have loved all kinds of movies since a young age); but I think anyone in their 20's or older will just love it.

I was right near Positano last summer. I love Italy. This summer I'm going to NY for Broadway Barks and to see some shows then my mom and I are going to Europe for two months.

I wonder since Bernadette is of Italian descent if she can speak any Italian?? Christine--you should definitely learn it's the most beautiful language(in my opinion) to speak...and if you already have knowledge of Spanish, Italian will be easier to learn because the two languages are VERY similiar.
Positano is wonderful...I read recently that Chita Rivera vacations there. For some reason I didn't realize also that that's where UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN was set--you're right...that movie is wonderful. BUT--if you want to see a REALLY good movie you should see LA VITA E BELLA(Life Is Beautiful)--this is possibly one of THE BEST movies I have every seen!

"Take off your jacket!"--Joan Rivers to Bernadette
"TAKE OFF YOUR DRESS!!"--Bernadette's reply.
