This is what I found on menalivechorus.org:

Men Alive and Bernadette Peters! What a combination: A Tony Award-winning actress and a chorus of gay men - yes, we will truly recreate Broadway on the OCPAC stage!

For our season finale, we celebrate the music and magic of the Big Apple with our summer extravaganza, New York City Rhythm! With a visit to The Met (yes, opera our way!) and a journey through the greatest musicals of Broadway, we promise this will be our most exciting and lavish production to date!

Bernadette Peters, legendary singer/actress and Broadway's brightest star, joins the boys of Men Alive for this very special show, performing with the Chorus some of the greatest tunes from the Great White Way as only she knows how. Please click here to learn more about Bernadette Peters.

I don't know about anyone else, but I never dress up for Bernadette (or any else's for that matter) concerts. Or Broadway shows. I wear jeans. But that's just me, if I can't wear jeans someplace it's probably not a place I'd be comfortable going anyway. At the Disney Hall concert I went to, there was a mix all the way from people wearing jeans to people dressed up in "out for the evening" wear, so I'd say pretty much anything goes.

I think you'll hear most if not all of those songs, except maybe "Time Heals Everything" I don't think she's been doing that one lately.

I still don't know why she's performing in Modesto, but on the concert website, it did look like there's a nice little theatre there, maybe it's new. So maybe Modesto is trying to change its image after the whole Peterson thing.

Kind of off-topic, but my grandma lived just outside of Modesto (near Empire if you know where that is) and it was ALL farmland in the surrounding areas ... my grandma lived right next to a peach farm (that she'd years earlier sold to Del Monte, which had a packing plant practically across the street.) I checked on Google Maps a couple years ago and it was STILL mostly farmland there, and Empire was still a dinky little "town."

Like Sacramento, everything outside the city of Modesto is farmland. I do know where Empire is, because growing up my grandparents lived in Long Beach, and my parents and I would drive back and forth between Sacramento and Long Beach, which is about 8 hours. You get to know Highway 99 and I-5 pretty well.

I still can't fathom why she'd perform in Modesto. Besides there not being anything around there, there's really not much to do there, except stop for gas. I lived in Sacramento for 24 years, and I never knew anyone who went to Modesto for a concert, or anything else, unless their family lived there. At least in Sacramento they had the theatre, opera, and ballet. I saw the Nutcracker performed in Sacramento, and I went to a couple of plays, but even Sacramento is not noted for great Theatre, Ballet, or live entertainment. They do have a pretty good jazz festival during the summer, but that's about it. When I go to the Modesto concert, I will try and meet her after the show, and I'll try and ask her why she chose Modesto, and I'll let you all know. =)

Thanks for posting the video! Spectacular!!! I'm going to bring my digital camera with me to her concert on the 31st, but if pictures during the concert are not allowed, I will be more than happy to wait until after the concert. During the musical review show I was just in, we didn't allow flash photography, as it would distract us, but we did allow people to videotape us, and take pictures without the flash. If pictures without the flash are allowed, by all means I will be taking loads of them. My camera holds up to 1,822 pictures at once, or an hour and a half of video.

For those of you who have been to her concerts and have met her, are there usually hundreds of people at the back door? I'm assuming since this is an afternoon show, that it shouldn't be too crowded...and perhaps I'll be lucky enough to meet her. I know for a fact I will be at the book signing on June 2nd. If anyone has been to one of her book signings, are we allowed to take pictures with her? Any information would be greatly appreciated, and I promise to share the pictures I take.

The only time I've ever met her was eons ago after a concert, and there were maybe 10 people waiting. I'm not sure she'll come out after the afternoon show on the 31st, but I'm hoping if enough people are standing by the stage door looking forlorn and hopeful, her assistant will pop out and feel sorry for us and talk Bernadette into coming out for a bit.

Most venues say no cameras, cellphones, etc, during performances, but usually a few people still take pics, and I personally have never seen anyone tossed out for doing it. But there's always that risk. But definitely no flashes because as you said, it's distracting to the performers (and the other audience members too.)

ok christina. most venues DO NOT allow videos or any pictures. what i did was secretly record from my camera. i was close enough to the stage where i could hold the camera close to me and still see what i was recording. you have to make sure no ushers are around that will catch you. usually, they are not anyway.

as for the pictures, NEVER during the performance itself. maybe you could get away with non flash, but with my camera, pics with non flash come out blurry. that's why i waited until she was taking her bows, and there was a standing ovation. that way, you won't get caught and people won't care. still use non flash though, and just keep snapping! just do it all sneakily. but yeah, people usually dont get thrown out for it.

and as for the stage door, the one time i did it, there were about 30-40 people outside. and this was march in the freezing cold in massachusetts. so there might be a good crowd. but probably not so big where you couldn't meet her or get her autograph. i'd say you have a good chance. especially with it being an afternoon show. hopefully bernadette herself will come out, but i wouldn't worry about the crowd.

and i'm done with my essay now. hope this helps a little.
