From: NYC | posted: 6/11/2006 at 10:09:27 PM ET Three of the NYC Fanadettes are here with me - and we're all stressed - but also plenty of drinking, critiquing, screaming, complaining,
laughing, gasping going on here on the Upper West Side.
Oh STRESS - best revival of a musical up next!

Academy Awards, take note. Hold the applause during the tribute montage.

Wondering what you thought of LaChanze if you did.

From: northern VA | posted: 6/11/2006 at 10:39:33 PM ET Patti-the lady in red!
(I really hope she wins-for Sarah's sake!)
For a second, my heart stopped and I thought I had heard wrong and GLENN was copresenting (with "As If We Never Said Goodbye" as walkout music). That would have been a major low. Not that anything that happened was Glenn Close's fault.
Oh my goodness-I did not know John Lloyd Young's mother died from cystic fibrosis.
Aww-I wanted to see Bernadette's black dress. Although this is lovely.
So....it's LaChanze. I had heard it was probably between her and Patti.

Is it just me or was John Lloyd Young's speech the worst, most self-indulgent one ever?
This whole thing is just a nightmare.

From: NYC | posted: 6/11/2006 at 10:55:55 PM ET I am really upset.
I saw Color Purple - LaChanze was out because she doesn't do (or at least didn't at the beginning of her run) perform 8 shows a week - unlike Patti who has missed only 2 performances since September and she was legitimately sick.
The only thing that makes me happy is seeing Beautiful Bern and now Regal Julie.

From: northern VA | posted: 6/11/2006 at 11:03:58 PM ET I have to say that this is the first Tony broadcast in some years in which there wasn't one new musical that I really wanted to see, or at least buy the recording.
The only segments that I really stopped what I was doing and watched were Sweeney Todd and Threepenny Opera. Threepenny was a bizarre segment, but I've always really liked Cyndi Lauper and have, of course, heard some of the score.
Well, knowing that Bernadette recycles her gowns, I'm hopeful that we'll see it again.
