hey guys, here is a transcript...
---
LESTER HOLT, co-host:

Proving it's a true Broadway classic that stands the test of time, the latest revival of "Gypsy" is about to celebrate its one-year anniversary on the Great White Way. It's been called spectacular, dazzling and immensely entertaining, and the same could certainly be said of its star, Bernadette Peters.

Bernadette, good morning.

Ms. BERNADETTE PETERS ("Gypsy"): Good morning, Lester.

HOLT: Good to have you here.

Ms. PETERS: It's great to be here.

HOLT: It's been almost a year. That adds up to roughly 400 performances.

Ms. PETERS: You know, I don't count. I don't know how many songs I sing, I don't know how the long--I sort of know how long the show is. I know it's two acts. But I just start the show, do it, take my little journey, and it's quite a journey.

HOLT: But it's a lot of performances. How do you keep it fresh not only for the audience but for yourself?

Ms. PETERS: Yeah.

HOLT: Do you change it a lot?

Ms. PETERS: I--you know, when you have a great play--because this is a great play with music. It's a great story. There's so much to learn from it. There's so much that reveals itself to me, that--that that's why I can do it for so long.

HOLT: You're going to do "Everything's Coming Up Roses."

Ms. PETERS: Yes, I am.

HOLT: Set--set the scene for me. Where in the show...

Ms. PETERS: This is where Rose--I play Rose--her daughter June--she has two daughters, Louise and June--who's the whole soul of--of her whole life, runs away. She's--she's been putting her whole energies in this one child, who's a performer--a--a very talented performer, but June runs away with one of the boys in the show and leaves. And basically, Rose feels very deserted. And then she looks to her other daughter, Louise, who she's basically ignored her whole life, and decides she's going to make that daughter a star.

HOLT: Well--well, let's hear it. This is "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from "Gypsy." Bernadette Peters, take it away.

(Bernadette Peters performs "Everything's Coming Up Roses")

HOLT: Bernadette Peters, thank you.

And you can see Ms. Peters in "Gypsy" at New York's Schubert Theater on Broadway. We'll be back in a moment. But first, this is TODAY on NBC.

Thank you so much for the transcript. I was so upset I missed it, but now I feel better being able to read it.
