Well I think he just kind of has the hots for her. She has rendered him speechless sometimes. Of course she doesn't dress terribly conservatively when she goes on that show so I'm sure she expects it and probably appreciates his attention a bit. Not trying to imply she doesn't dress properly or is trying to go after Regis. :-)

Yes, I have that episode on tape. That was when she co-hosting immediately after AGYG opened. He always makes some comment about her and even Kelly Ripa brought it up once when Bernadette visited. Something about how he has a little extra pep in his step when Bernadette is on the show. I think it is kind of cute and funny. But he does go a little far sometimes with that and all sorts of things.

Well one time when he was trying to talk about a story in the papers that morning, she leaned over and put her head on his shoulder and her arm around him. He started to laugh nervously, completely forgot what he was talking about and couldn't regain his train of thought.

Oh that was an example of his crush on her, not him going too far with some of his bits. For that he just seems to harp on her about something and often it becomes very unfunny after the second time he says it. I remember the show where he found out she dated Steve Martin and he just wouldn't let it go. And then on one show she was just honestly trying to share an herbal remedy for cramps (they had someone on the show that was talking about using herbs to cure ailments so she was just contributing to the contents of the show) and he made fun of her the entire show. And I think the show the next day. On both occasions she finally gave him a dirty look but I don't think it stopped him. He's just that way sometimes and I really dislike him when he is. But mostly he is just a tad flustered around her because I think he is very attracted to her.

oh thats just mean! why bring up steve martin when shes married now? thats just stupid! What did he say? was he being nasty about him and her? and the herbal remedy thing.....I mean, i'm a little sister and even I can't think of something to make fun of about that!

It came up that she dated Steve Martin during an interview. Very innocent. She was actually the one who said it. He made a funny comment about it but he continued with stupid comments throughout the show. He wasn't saying anything nasty it was just very juvenile.

Actually ,I was at the show that time Steve Martin was mentioned. Ann Margaret brought it up (she was just remenissing with Bernadette), but even during the commercial breaks, Regis wouldn't let up about it.
I do think Regis goes a little far with his comments sometimes, but I also enjoy watching the expressions on his face when he sees Bernadette having such a good time; she really does seem to have fun co-hosting (she laughs a lot, and makes Regis laugh in the process).
She would have been a great permenant host, but she's too much of a free spirit to tie down. She probably wouldn't be happy doing a job like that every day.

If I remember correctly, the time Ann Margaret brought up Steve in casual conversation, even she was hesitant to mention his name, and sort of looked for Bernadette's approval before mentioning it.

Yes, Ann Margaret was telling a story about when she first met Bernadette and realized she was going to say Steve Martin's name and she kind of whispered it. Bernadette repeated what she said, loud and clear. It didn't bother her at all. Everyone knows they used to date. But Regis just harped on it for the entire show like it was something huge.

I caught some short clip on Steve Martin on MSNBC... had some pictures of BP and him as a couple. I'll post them sometime this week.

Yeah, that talks a bit about the relationship, but I think in the longrun most bios downplay it. It would be interesting to see what kind of mention of it would be made if one was to be done on Bernadette.
