I've never been, but seeing just these clips I wish I had been able to attend. Can't always tell who's who but sometimes it doesn't matter. Haven't watched it all, but Bernadette and Joel are at around 13 minutes, but keep on watching for the next clip, of Tovah Feldshuh doing...well, I'll just let it be a surprise.

From: NYC | posted: 4/22/2006 at 10:32:19 AM ET I saw it too Jean - I think I'm going to try to play hooky on Monday afternoon. My friend Todd Buonopane is in it (he's an understudy in Spelling Bee). I'll report back of course.

From: NYC | posted: 4/24/2006 at 7:48:05 PM ET What fun it was! First of all, it's always good to cut work in order to be entertained, because work is NOT entertaining.
The skits were hysterical. I have to say that my favorite was by the cast of Beauty and the Beast - it was called Les Disneyrables - some of them were wearing suits and had on mouse ears...and then there were a plethera of Disney characters - Beauty, Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Pinnochio, The Little Mermaid, Tarzan etc. It was all about Disney owning Broadway and the moves that all the shows are moving theatres. It was so funny and wonderful. The others I found funniest were Spelling Bee - it was just Todd Buonopane and Lawrence Goldhuber doing an interpretive dance of the political scene - they are both heavy guys but were wearing nothing but American flag boxers. Fearless. Ring of Fire did "The Ballad of Johnny Cash" - it was the tune of "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" and it was damn funny - they added words about Sondheim. Their bonnet was a giant cowboy hat with a yellow boa in a ring around it then they turned off the lights and it looked like it was on fire. Sweeney's song was "Rhapsody in Blood" to the tune of that Queen song from the 70s - when they got to the "mamma mia" lines, some of the dancers from Mamma Mia ran out and danced around them. Their bonnet was a stack of buckets with too bloody knives.
The absolute highlight was the appearance by Doris Eaton Travis who is the oldest living Ziegfield Girl. She is 102 years old and sang and did a dance and was terrific.
I've been to several of these types of events now and it is clear to me that the actors love these shows - they are showing off for each other and the audience is packed with true Broadway fans. It's a real treat to get to go to these events. If you ever have a chance - I know Moljul and Christine will agree as I know they've been to similar events like Nothing Like A Dame, etc., that in addition to raising money for BCEFA, it is pure joy just to be there.
