My name's Peter. I'm 21, straight and in love with the most talented, funniest musical theatre actress of our time. From show stopping performances at full belt with songs like 'Being Alive' and 'Unexpected Song' to the ones that make your heart skip a beat with pure emotion such as 'Stay with Me' from Woods and especially as Marie in Sunday with 'Chidren and Art'. Could there be a more talented individual on the planet. I can't wait for Gypsy in London. I will kill for a ticket.
One quick question...
I own 'Bernadette', 'Sondheim Etc', 'I'll be you're baby tonight' and 'BP loves R&H' but I often here talk of an earlier, fifth, album. It's not on your site so I'm guessing it either never existed or is no longer available but has anyone ever heard it/own it if it did?

She actually released two albums in the early 80s. They are no longer available but most of the songs are compiled into "Bernadette" which was released in 1992. In other words the 92 album had no new songs on it. So I would say you have all of her solo recordings.

Yeah, there were a lot of different covers for her various records but I think most her songs made it to CD. It'd be interesting if someone could come up with a list of songs on record but not on CD...

Her 1980 and 1981 albums had a combined total of 19 tracks. Six of them were not included on the compilation CD issued in the early nineties. Here's a list:Heartquake and Chico's Girl from the first album and four more from the second album, Dedicated to the One I Love, The Weekend of a Private Secretary, Tears on my Pillow and Maybe My Baby Will. She also recorded a few 45s in the sixties and seventies that never made it to an album or CD. Hope this helps.

Bernadette also recorded a few songs on other people's albums:
"Flirting with the Edge", by John Whelan, 1998 (Narada label)--she sings "Dublin Lady"; the CD has Celtic music;

"Dress Casual"-Mandy Patinkin, 1990 (CBS Records); she sings, with Mandy and solo, 4 songs from "Evening Primrose". (I love "Evening Primrose", and recommend this recording.)

Doesn't she just sing 3 songs from Evening Primrose? --'I'll Remember', 'When', and 'Take Me To The World'? Because the other day, I was listening to samples from those tracks (at cdnow.com) and I heard her only on those 3 tracks out of the 4 from Evening Primrose.-----(Please feel feel to correct me because I could obviously be wrong)

Take care,
Stacy

Here's the song list from the recording:
"If You Can Find Me I'm Here"-Sung by Mandy Patinkin;
"I Remember"-Sung by Bernadette Peters;
"When"-Duet;
"Take Me to the World"-Duet.

I'm holding the song list in my hand as I type this. So, yes, she does sing 3 of the four songs, and only one alone.

I first fell in love with Bernadette after my brother gave me the video of The Jerk in which she starred with Steve Martin. I'm 23 and from the United Kingdom so I've probably missed out on all the magazines and TV interviews that she's been on in the USA. All I can say is that she is the perfect definition of pure beauty.
