Yeah being yonuger than everyone else.

My name is Emma and I'm a 15 year old sophmore in the state of murryland (Maryland). I live right outside of DC but it compares nothing to NyC. I do theatre stuff constantly and have to soon find a way to pay for my obsession. I have a dog named Misty who's (whose?) birthday is on sunday the 7th. Yes I know my dog's birthday. its sad. I'm the youngest of four children. I am in a "special" program at my high school that is basically media/english/theatrey kind of stuff. I had to take Drama last year, that should tell ya something. I'm a dork and don't really listen to music besides showtunes. Except for my ghetto-nights of straight-thugging to rap. I also listen to my brother's music. (he's really good.) you should all go check out his website if you like people like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Matt Nathanson, etc. (www.eric-hutchinson.com). I guess thats all. I hope no one tries to stalk one another. but this post was a really good idea. peace.

damn, she's cool.

What a great idea! I love it!

Ok, I'm Christa and am a 16 year old junior from New Jersey. Of course, being from Jersey, I too have Bruce Springsteen in my blood lol. I live about an hour away from the city, but can't drive by myself yet (permitts suck), so I only go in when my parents are willing to take me in. I am one of those freaks who plays sports and is into performing arts, and who doesn't like soda. But hey, I like being a freak!

My second after Bernadette is Barbra Streisand. I love the way she sings, I wish I could sing like her AND Bernadette lol. But I know I can't. I also love Barbra's movies, especially The Way We Were and The Mirror Has 2 Faces.

I'm going to be 17 on May 11, only 8 months until I get my license! Go Christa!

As for other music, right now I'm listening to GYPSY and The Essential Barbra Streisand, but I like the singer/songwriter people. I love Sugar Ray and The Ataris, and some other random songs I hear on the radio.

I hope to go to NYU or some other college in the city, Rowan, Georgetown, or somewhere else. I would like to major in theatre, but can't because I don't have enough talent to make anything of it! I would also like to major in English, or some other people skill lol.

As for activities, I do plays at my school, play in the band (go flutes!), and dance. I also play lacrosse, the only sport I can play. I'm also in my school's Campus Ministry.

Um....if I think of anything else to say I'll come back, otehrwise, that's me!

Hey this was a great idea! My names Holly and I'll be 18 next month. I love musical theater and performing and I live in NJ. I had a question for MollyEliz. I am seriously considering going to school in the city and I was wondering how you liked NYU and living in NYC. I'm sure it's awesome and I can't wait to get there, but I would love to hear what you think of everything. Do you like living in the dorms, and the Village and all? Anything you could add would be great! Thank you

This thread was such a good idea.
Danielle, that is so great that you go around to different schools to speak out against drugs and alcohol. Good for you.

I am also very political at times. I like to volunteer for different organizations that mean a lot to me when I can. For the past 5 or 6 years I have volunteered for Staten Island's annual Breast Cancer Walk. I've also Interned/Volunteered with the March of Dimes in both Staten Island and Manhattan. I was actually a volunteer coordinator for the March of Dimes in Manhattan. MS and Diabetes organizations are a couple of the other ones that I try to at least donate money to; even if I can't always donate my time. And of course, any help I can give towards animal shelters and organizations.

If I had more patients, I would consider being a teacher for disabled children. I have a lot of respect for those men and women that do that; I'm just afraid I wouldn't be able to handle it. lol That's just another little weird fact about me

I volunteer at the animal shelter and it's so hard sometimes because you see these animals come in battered and abused, but when you can help them and turn them back over to loving families it's so rewarding! My dog Chelsea,(well she just passed away in april) was tied to the back of a truck behind the grocery store and her "owner" was going to try to kill her by dragging her, but a clerk brought her to the shelter instead. My mom would go and volunteer and the dog was so afraid of people after that, my mom was the only one who could get her out of the cage, so it was decided that we had to keep her and she ended up being THE BEST dog ever!!

Aside from being random there, I also forgot to mention that I'm an obsessive Will and Grace and Friends watcher. I also, am an Aquarian (right on mighty water people ) and I love all the HBO shows too: Sex and the City, Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Six Feet Under. This is a really fun thread.

Since Jaime Lyn shared her name story, I'll tell you mine. My name is Kristen Leigh and I was named after a Playboy centerfold. LoL I know it sounds insane, but my dad wanted to name me Eileen after my mom, but she hates her name so she decided that was a big NO. Then my mom wanted to name me Nicole Marie, but my grandmother (who is quite abrasive at times) decided to announce that they were naming their first born after her Husky, Nikki. So that name was out. Then somehow a magazine *ahem* surfaced and my dad liked the girl, my mom liked the name so there you go...Kristen Leigh LoL. Now that I just embarassed myself, I think I'll stop talking. It's really a unique story though I like it, but people often think we're crazy when they hear that story

LOL Maybe we should call you Bunny from now on as a nickname....as in "Playboy Bunny." hahaha j/k
But seriously, I might call ya that.

We got our first dog (Dallas) because my Dad was coming out of a bar one night and saw this scroungy little mut going through the garbage. He felt so bad for him because you could see his ribs he was so skinny. He was named Dallas because my Dad had just finished watching the Dallas Cowboys Football game. lol
That was before I was born though, so he was a member of the family before me....obviously he's dead now. No dog can live that long. lol

My name was supposed to be Brian Patrick. LOL Back in '82 determening what the baby was going to be was not as advanced. I was suuposed to be a boy and my brother was supposed to be a girl. My Brother was supposed to be Kelly Lynn. And yet our names are Michael and Christine. lol Go figure. My poor Mother didn't get to name any of us.

lol Sorry, I got bored...so I posted, again.

Okay, I'll add my two cents to this thread!

My name is Brian and I am a 30 year old fifth grade teacher in one of the many suburbs of Dallas. The first three letters of my last name are B-I-G so many of my students call me "Mr. Big"...hence my screen name!

I live right outside of Dallas in the suburbs and I cannot sing, dance, or act! I do love going to the theatre and watching a variety of different types of shows, especially musicals.
I have been a big Bernadette Peters fan for about 12 years now. I have seen her in concert about ten times in five different cities. I am also a big Bette Midler, Tori Amos, Barbra, Madonna, etc. fan. I guess I just love the divas! I also like mainstream pop, rock, country, and I LOVE rap!!! Most people that meet me are surprised by that!

I love spending time outdoors and in the water. I have a lake house out in the country and I spend hours swimming, boating, and jet-skiing.

I love all kinds of animals, too. I have two cats (my babies) named Madeline and Kahnzie!

I also enjoy travelling. I try to go to New York once a year to see shows and absorb the city. When I am not in NY I live there vicariously through the show SEX AND THE CITY. I love that show!!! It makes me want to pick up and move to NY everytime I watch it!

Well, I guess that is about all for now. Don't grade my post for grammar and spelling just because I am a teacher! I am typing fast...without proofreading!!! Don't tell my students!!! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weekend!

Brian

Haha, before I got through the post, I assumed Mr. Big was paying homage to Sex and the City! Then you started describing your name and it was a let down, but you live for SATC so it's all good. LoL I think I'm talking too much on this thread but whatever Yeah my musical tastes are amusing to many. I listen to a lot of classic rock/middle aged stoner music lol and show tunes, along with anything else bizarre in between. Ya gotta mix it up, right?

This is so cool, getting to learn a bit about everyone. LoL.

Anyhoo, so about me...let's see...My name is Kim. I'm a junior in high school ('05!!) aaaand, I go to a performing arts high school (I'm a drama major.) For college, ideally, I'd love to go to NYU (Molly!) Except that it's a tad bit expensive...but we'll see.

Hey, Jamie Lyn, I used to be obsessed with The X-Files, too....but then season eight came along, and I didn't like it so much (though I still watch reruns of the older shows!!)

Amanda: You're fluent in French? I'm so jealous! I'm taking French in school right now, and I love it!! I want to learn Italian, Spanish, German, and maybe Russian someday, too....

Let's see...I have a dog and a rabbit. Other than Bernadette, I'm also a big fan of Linda Eder...and showtunes are pretty much all I listen to (I'm such a dork, I know!)

I guess that's it. I'm not very interesting.

To whoever asked the questions about NYU, here is goes.
I LOVE living in the city and I LOVE my dorm, which actually has a fifth avenue address. I have a huge room, one roommate, and three suitemates. Between the 5 of us, we have our own bathroom. I am in the traditional style dorming, so right now I don't have a kitchen or common area or anything, but I have plenty of space.
My classes started last week, so I've only had each class once. So far they seem really interesting! All of my classes are very small- I think my largest is about 25 people. But that could be because I'm in Gallatin, which is much smaller than the College of Arts and Sciences.
As for the "college life," people, etc. I have met a lot of really great, interesting people. It's a lot easier to find people who will go see shows all the time with me here than it was in Miami. I love that my friends here know all the words to "Suddenly Seymore" and we sing it as we are walking down the street.
I haven't actually been OUT, out yet, like to a club or bar or anything. Sort of a combination of them being really expensive, us being underage, and there being SO much other stuff to do that I don't really feel compelled to go out every night. I also have a lot of work and am VERY busy, so consuquently I am tired a lot of time.
Anyway, I really recommend the school. If anyone is coming to visit, you should definitely let me know. Also, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Alrighty, here goes...

My name is Megan Kathleen and I'm 16. I'm a Junior in Highschool. (oddly enough our mascot is the Knights too like UCFguardgirl). I live on Long Island. I'm very active in HS. I'm Vice President of Student Council, part of yearbook, video yearbook, student community service club, Habitat for Humanity, mathletes (yeah I know I'm a dork), and a club called Natural Helpers. (It's sort of like a peer-help program). I used to run on track (hurdles) but I have REALLY bad knees so I can't do sports anymore. Outside of school I volunteer at a local animal shelter and I have a job. I like pretty much all music, but besides showtunes I love John Mayer and Norah Jones. I LOVE going to the movies. I saw Lord of the Rings II 3 times. (It's a 3 hour movie so that's 9 hours of my life wasted lol)I LOVE Viggo Mortensen (he played Aragorn in that movie) I have 3 younger siblings: Matthew, Melanie, and Melissa. (Yes, we are all "M's" and our cousins' names are Michael, Mikayla, and Myles) I also have 2 cats (Dewey and Cookie) and a miniature pincher named Casey who is nuts. I have a hamster named Schnookims (that was the name given to him by my 9 year old sister lol) and two fish named Cleopatra and Julius. Like just about everyone else here I want to go to NYU, or any college in NYC for that matter and double major in Theatre and Film. I want to be a director when I get older but my heart is set on directing a Broadway production of some kind. I'd love to just work at a theatre; that would be great! I have a big obsession with the show Boston Public and Seinfeld. That show is just too funny. I love to read books (especially biographies and fantasy) and I love to write. That's about all I can think of.

I like reading Biographies too Megan I was just reading "one More Time" by Carol Burnett.
I also would like to double major in Film and Theatre. That was my original plan, but sense got the better of me and I knew if those things didn't work out I needed a Business Degree for back up
For about 5 years now I've had my heart set on Directing....but Film Editing is really fun, so I considered that too.

Hey Mr. Big, are you by any chance a Madeline Kahn fan? LOL just asking because of your animals' names. I happen to be a huge Madeline Kahn fan. I was actually just watching "What's Up Doc?" today.

You guys are not dorks! (I'm saying this because most everything you guys like, and call yourselves dorks for, I also like). I'm a Sex and the City freak as well and I too always thought Mr. Big was named for the show...But since you love it so much, that will be MY reason to call you that Brian. Seinfeld is another favorite show of mine as well. I looooove Kramer! He's just the funniest. My stepmother actually looks just like Julia Loius Dreyfus, it's uncanny.

Some more faves of mine: Judy Garland, Julie Andrews, Linda Eder, Michael Ball, Hunter Foster, Sutton Foster, Audrey Hepburn.

I also loooove Billy Joel and Elton John.

Alright, enough about me!

Bump it with a trumpet!
