Hi-
I'm sorry If I excited anyone, with my title...I do hope that they record Gypsy...that would be soo great !! Anyway, on amazon.com, under auctions for Bernadette, some one is selling a VHS of BP in Gypsy ("not professionally filmed"...not exact quote, please don't quote me)...as well as other show's, such as "Take Me Out", etc. I am soo tempted to buy it...but (not to sound Sooo naieve (sp?)) but I have a feeling it is not for real, or it is some sick porn video ( )...what do you guys think?
Thanks!
Fan55

ps-I hope no one beats me to buying it....

It's probably real and not legal. I'm sure it won't be for sale on ebay much longer. They will make the seller take it down.

Not to sound nasty, but you really shouldn't even be posting about that here. Bootleg talk is a no-no on most message boards. It can lead to trouble.

Three things:

1) Ebay TRIES to make sure all things put up for auction are legit, but a lot of times borderline stuff like this slips through the cracks. Especially if it's something like a bootleg musical, which might be grouped into a category that doesn't get queue-ed up as much as another type of collectable.

Case-in-point: I once bought an X-Files Bloopers tape that was not commercially available (I.E: a crew member with access to blooper reels probably made a copy and gave it to someone else who made a copy and sold it, and so on and so forth.) The first time I did the search and bought the tape, I didn't realize anything was wrong with my having bought it. I figured, if it's up on ebay, it must be okay to sell, right? But the second time I saw the auction up on Ebay (for the same bloopers reel) it got shut down three days into the auction for copyright infringement. So always make sure you know exactly what it is you're buying.

2) Bootlegs are often described on an online auction board as "not professional videos," because that's essentially exactly what they are. They're illegal to make, but most of the time, they circulate in a sort of "underground" fashion. Lots of people know they exist, and some people probably have one or two, but it's not something you talk about on a site like this. Again, because it's illegal to film the video in the first place.

Meaning: what you saw on Ebay is probably exactly what it claims to be. Stuff like that gets around, just usually not on a site like Ebay.

3) Nothing on ebay is always 100% legit. Even some of the "authentic autographed photos" are bogus. Bottomline: If you're not sure what it is, or don't like the looks of it, or can't substantiate the buyer or the product, or think it might not be legal, DON'T BUY IT.

My apologies to Kevin if I shouldn't have said any of that.

Thank you UFCgirl......This is on Amazon...not ebay. But just yesterday, I saw MANY videos up for sale (on ebay...similar items) and before I knew it (within hours) they were gone....

Ha ha. Really? I wonder if it was all being sold by the same person, or the same group of people? The mystery unfolds.... LOL.

I don't know! LOL!! I believe it was the same person....who knows! If you don't mind my asking, did you (UFCgirl) get in trouble...I hope not!? Can a person who buys a "You know what" get in trouble? Just curious (I have not bought anything...don't worry).

Did I get in trouble? No, I didn't. Once the auction has ended you've pretty much slipped through the cracks. And most of the time, blame is heaped on the seller of the auction and not the buyer. I'm not sure what happens to the seller, if they get banned from ebay or warned or just shut down for that particular auction.
