I just registered here at the boards, so I apologize for my over-enthusiasm! But I figured this would be the best place to share my excitement!

I am so proud of myself; it took me months and months to do, but I finally saved up enough money to go see Gypsy on October 16th. All my life I've been wanting to see Bernadette Peters perform, and now I'm moving to NYC (for graduate school, with not a dime in my pocket, although I worked myself to death to get in; how I will be able to afford NY is a mystery I dare not try to fathom yet...) Anyway. I am finally going to see her live, on stage! Even since I was 8 years old, and listened to her beautiful voice on the 'Into the Woods' soundtrack, I've been eager to see her on stage; nobody else on earth has a voice to chase away my troubles like Bernadette. But I was never able to save up the money to fly to NY and see any of the shows... (not that I should have spent 100 bucks with the move to Manhattan coming up) but I feel so exhilarated and excited -- especially after having watched 'Rose's Turn' on the Tony's.

At any rate, I managed to get a 1st row seat in center orchestra. When the guy on the phone told me the seat was available, I nearly fell over. I don't think I've ever been that close to a stage in my life. I can only imagine what it must be like for those of you who have the abilities to sing and dance, and actually stand up on the stage and pour your hearts out. I suppose I was one of those people who was born a musical theatre actress... but never had the talent for it. But sitting this close to the best on Broadway is good, too. Maybe if I wave to Bernadette during the curtain call, she'll see me. You think?

Anyway... Have I mentioned that I'm excited? Hee hee! Even though it's just little old me going by myself -- well, it's the first row! My present to myself for getting accepted to graduate school, I suppose. Any other New Yorkers planning to go to the theatre on October 16th??

LoL..you're just like me! I saved up for a year to buy tickets for Gypsy. (I'm only 16) and believe me it was such an AMAZING performance!! FRONT ROW!! I'm even excited for you. Have a great time! My mom's birthday is October 16th and we usually go into the city. Maybe we'll see Gypsy that day.
