Bwaybaby:"I do not understand why someone would actually think they are OWED a response to a question that is not even any of their business."

My thought:
Because they're either very young and don't know any better (where is Miss Manners) or because they are arrogant and think that everything revolves around them or they are trying to cause trouble...

there, I feel better...(I really don't want to prolong this)

I just thought I'd put in my two cents... Anonymous posting isn't going anywhere. It's here for the people who have 1 question and really don't feel like signing up. It works wonderfully for that purpose.

As far as giving more credence to posts with a username... that's silly. Simply because someone has a name, that alone doesn't make them unanonymous, it makes them an anonymous source with an identifier.. essentially still anonymous. Unless I formally check IDs of everybody who posts, and you trust me to do so, it's all relatively anonymous.

Signing an anonymous post is perhaps even more pointless as it is easily forgeable by anyone.

Don't get all upset. If something really bothers you then email or PM me about it.

Well you know what Kevin, I've noticed that even when some of us do email you or private message you, you either ignore it or make it seem like we're wrong! I'm sorry, but it's quite evident that you take the sides of certain posters, and seeing as you're the webmaster I don't think it's right.

I think you do a great job with this website (keeping it running, updating it, drawing the line when things get out of control), and I really enjoy most of the threads and people who post here; but I am not going to walk on egg shells and kiss up to you (the way some of the people do) just because you're the webmaster.

I don't think it's silly at all to give the people who post under a user name MORE credibility than those who post anonymously, if we so choose...because you know what, some people post anonymously just to cause trouble.

Bottom Line: It's Kevin's website and he has the right to run it any way he likes.

Well, I don't know how you expect me to respond to that. Do you want this site to close down? Let me know, because I'm sure I can find ways to redistribute my time and money. Outrageous...

Please don't put words in my mouth. I did not even imply that I wanted the site to close down. All I'm saying is that I think you could show equal respect to everyone here, because smetimes I feel that you don't. That's all.

I know he has the right to run it any way he wants. Does that mean that I can't disagree with some of it?
I said he does a great job...I would never disreguard a job well done.

Since we're being so frank all the sudden, I have to tell you that when I get attacked with that kind of a response it most certainly does not make me want to be fair.

I try damn hard to make decisions down the middle. I can't please everyone (which is now quite apparent) and I don't see where you get this "walk on eggshells" around me. You speak as if I'm some evil dictator when, most of the time, I don't even censor or moderate anyone's conversations.

I don't know what the hell you expect from me.

I enjoy this WEB site and the messages. It has made me realize how many wonderful Broadway fanatics --in the best sense of the word-- there are out there! Bravo!

Kevin is doing a wonderful job. Thank you, Kevin, for putting together such an amazing website. I can handle people attacking each other on this board under their so called user names, but the line needs to be drawn when it comes to attacking the webmaster. That is pretty bold. I would suggest that those people who do not like the way this site is run...go find another site (good luck) or start one of your own.

Forget what I said about tolerating people attacking each other under their so-called user names. No one should be attacking anyone on this board for any reason. That is not what we are here for. Can we talk about Bernadette now?

Kevin is doing a fantastic job and I think he is respectful of all people. You do have a right to voice your opinion but to directly attack someone's integrity about being a fair person is not appropriate in an open forum. If people disagree in regards to a post it should be kept about the post not about the person who is posting.

Not to say that I have not in the past disagreed with people on this site or posted poorly, but I think it is the style in which someone does it that often causes the problems around here.

It is obvious that we all care about this site, especially Kevin so lets not talk about shutting it down. lets discuss how as posters we can better communicate together so personality conflicts are not discussed in the open forum.

Why can't we all just get along? HAHA

The fact remains it is Kevin's website and he puts all of his time and energy (not to mention money) into maintaining it. If he requires us all to post embarrassing photos of ourselves or refer to him as King Kevin, it is perfectly within his right to do it. Now if any of that were true I certainly wouldn't post here but that is my choice - to visit certain boards and to not visit them if I don't like the way they are run.

Everyone's posts are getting repetitive. How can we fix the problem as opposed to continuing this way?

I'm taking a time out for the rest of the evening by:
1) taking a 1/2 hour walk (healthy)
2)having a martini (for the heart)
3)watching a baseball game (fun)

A little distance and perspective never hurts.

Kevin and everyone--

I want you to know that I was by no means attacking you in any of my posts. I realize anonymous posting is completely up to you. And I was in no way implying that this site is run poorly, because its not. I was saying that yes, sometimes the anonymous posting feature is taken advantage of by some. Is that your fault? No. I was only giving my opinion on it. That does not mean I think all anonymous posters come on here with bad intentions...but yes some do. Just as I'm sure some registered users have in the past too. And I obviously wouldn't give EVERY registered user more credibility than a anonymous poster because there are some great anonymous posters here...like PTM. But when I PERSONALLY look at an anonymous post, for the most part, I do not give it as much credibility as someone who signs their post in some way. Like I said before, when you have a user name whatever you say is associated with you. When your anonymous you can say anything and pretty much get away with it...on ANY board. I have a feeling this anonymous poster accomplished what they wanted.....
I really have no idea how this becmae a lets attack the webmaster thread and I apologize for that.

Oy vey! First of all, I just want to say that this is my favorite board ever! EVER! And Kevin, thank you so much for all of the time you put into it...

Now, about anonymous noters... Here's my opinion... Like Kevin said, anonymous noting is for people who have one, maybe two questions and don't want to have to sign up as a full member... Yes, this lets them leave rude notes and we have no clue who it is, but that doesn't matter much to me because if I left a mean/rude note, the only thing you guys would know is that some person under the screen name of "mikee" is a jerk... Even that doesn't matter because for all you people know, I could be a girl, a 10 year old kid, or a 89 year old grandfather... Anyways... I haven't felt that anonymous posting has been THAT big of a problem and I think it is kind of stupid that a rude note by someone who probably doesn't even matter is affecting people... Brush it off! Ignore it! It's not that big of a deal...

Once again, thank you Kevin so much for all you do and I look forward to the future of this board! Have a nice day everyone...
