Hello all

Haven't posted in a while. Apologies.

Big thank you as always to everyone who posts and updates us regularly with Bernadette news

I found out a bit about the pilot Bernadette filmed.

Sounds interesting but what is Prime Instant Video?

Pilot is Mozart in the Jungle - a behind the scenes look at the New York Symphony

Here is a good description of the pilot and the Amazon Studios:

"Amazon Studios today announced casting for Mozart in the Jungle, a Paul Weitz-directed pilot that will debut on Prime Instant Video and LOVEFiLM early next year. Written by Academy Award-nominee Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited), Jason Schwartzman (Moonrise Kingdom, Rushmore) and Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher), Mozart in the Jungle is about sex, drugs—and classical music—and shows what happens behind the curtains at the symphony can be just as captivating as what happens on stage.

Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries) stars as Rodrigo, the hotshot new conductor of the New York Symphony. He is joined by Malcolm McDowell (Franklin & Bash) as Thomas, a more seasoned conductor being forced into retirement by Rodrigo, Lola Kirke (Reaching for the Moon) as the impressionable oboist Hailey, and Bernadette Peters (Smash) who plays Gloria, the Chairwoman of the Board of the symphony. Mozart in the Jungle also stars Saffron Burrows (Law and Order: Criminal Intent) as Cynthia, a cellist in the middle of an affair with Thomas, Peter Vack (CBGB) as Joshua, a talented dancer out of Julliard who becomes Hailey’s love interest, and Hannah Dunne (This is It) as Lizzie, Hailey’s friend and roommate.

"It's an excellent and fun cast,” said Paul Weitz, Director and Executive Producer. “They all enjoyed stepping through the looking glass into characters who are obsessed with a very different discipline."

In early 2014 customers will be invited to watch, provide feedback and help determine which pilots should be produced as series to air exclusively on Prime Instant Video and Amazon’s LOVEFiLM in the UK. Pilots include The After from Emmy-nominee Chris Carter (The X-Files), Bosch, based on the best-selling Harry Bosch book series by Michael Connelly, The Rebels from Matt Alvarez and Michael Strahan – the former New York Giants football player and host of Live with Kelly and Michael, and Transparent from Emmy-nominee Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under).

Eleven pilots will debut in early 2014 including kids’ pilots - Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, Grid Smasher, The Maker Shack Agency and Wishenpoof!, comedies The Rebels and Transparent, and dramas Bosch and The After. They will be available exclusively on Amazon Instant Video and LOVEFiLM in the UK for all customers to watch and provide feedback.

Since launch, more than 18,000 movie scripts and 4,000 series projects have been submitted to Amazon Studios. This looks like a highly fictionalized version of the memoir that goes by the same name. The book is screaming hilarious, and has some tragic moments too. The woman who wrote the book actually studied music at the NC School of the Arts right down the road from me. It was kind of controversial when it was published because most people didn't realize that professional symphony musicians can also have rock star like excesses and addictions and so forth. My favorite part was when she described playing in the pit orchestra for "Saigon" - she said she played the score so many times for so many shows that she got to the point that she could read a magazine on her music stand while still playing her parts flawlessly.

I streamed the pilot last night on tv via my Lovefilm account...it's only 30 minutes long. It claims to be about "sex, drugs, and classical music". Bernadette is committee Chairperson of a NY Symphony orchestra. She appears onstage at the start to introduce the new conductor, Rodrigo. She didn't really have a lot to do in the pilot apart from that and proposing a toast at the party afterwards. She does look amazing in a black and emerald green gown though. Saffron Burrows appears to be one of the main characters, she plays cello in the orchestra and provided what "sex" there was in the pilot. Apart from Malcolm McDowell as the old conductor the other characters look set to be the students, particularly a young female oboist from North Carolina who is the love target of a ballet dancer from Juilliard. The tiny little man who plays sex-god/conductor Rodrigo is ridiculous. "Amazon Studios" ask for feedback at the end of the pilot via our Lovefilm account. I haven't provided any yet but will do so later today ... asking for lots more Bernadette scenes obviously.

Cheers,
Scottie
