Does any video footage exist of Bernadette's tour with Peter Allen in 1989? I searched a bit on Youtube with no results. I saw an earlier thread on this board by someone who had attended one of the shows. What an experience to see these 2 amazing talents together. Thanks again for posting that CBS news interview video.

I attended the concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and there were video cameras there filming it, but I think maybe it was just for local newscasts or shows like Entertainment Tonight. I never saw anything other than brief clips of the concert itself on TV, and so far as I know no video of it was ever released.

It was my first time seeing either of them perform live, and the concert was quite good, they each did a solo bit, and they also did some songs together.

I took a few notes on their concert back then, as to what songs they sang, etc. I don't have the complete show though, but here's a bit of what they did (not in order

both of them together:
"Everything Old is New Again"/"Some People"
"Why Not?" (?? not sure of title)
Irving Berlin medley (probably same one they did on Oscars)

Bernadette singing with Peter on piano:
"I'll Be Seeing You"
"I Never Thought I'd Break"
"Broadway Baby"

Bernadette's solo part of show:
"Here I Am"
"Making Love Alone"
"Unexpected Song"
"Pearl's a Singer"
"I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"
Harold Arlen medley (same one she did on PBS years ago)

some of the banter:

Peter: She won a Tony award.
Bernadette: Yes, I like to brag about that. (whispers in his ear)
Peter: And she has a star on Hollywood Blvd.
Bernadette: (whispers in his ear again)
Peter: And she designs all her own clothes. (pause) You do not! Bob Mackie would kill you for saying that!
Bernadette shrugs

Peter: We've gotten some requests and we'll try to do some of them. One of the requests was that we each remove a piece of clothing. I will if Bernadette goes first.
Bernadette: O.K. That's easy for me, I'll just take this off. (removes jacket) Now it's your turn.
Peter: O.K. (takes off a shoe)
Bernadette: Hey, that's not fair!

I also have a nice memory of before the show, I was up at the Griffith Observatory before the show, and I guess they were doing a sound check down at the theater (it's right down the road from the observatory.) And I could hear Bernadette's a capella voice wafting through the air, very ethereal, and other people up on the observation deck heard it too and one said "Listen, it's the voice of an angel."

It seems they weren't far wrong ... thanks, that's a really beautiful story.

Alexa, thank you so much for sharing that wonderful evening with us. You are SOOO lucky to have attended. And very wise to have taken notes, I wonder what happened to the video that was taken...maybe it still exists in archives of the LA stations...wishful thinking! Thanks again Alexa!!!

What an adorable interview,Jean, and a beautiful story, Alexa.

It makes me sad how golden stuff like this just gets lost and whanot. I wish it was all readily and publicly available. Missing out on it stinks!

How do you like them egg rolls, Mr. Goldstone?
