“It’s all about finding the truth in the song,” she says of her process. “You just have to look a little harder in an Andrew Lloyd Webber song.”

Curious statement ... since so many different people have written the lyrics to Lloyd Webber's songs --- presumably, they're all inept?

"There’s a lot in the world for us to turn our attention to — helping people, helping animals, and helping animals help people." ... Bernadette Peters, August, 2007

Hey, I just got home from her dallas concert and it was AMAZING!!!! OMG so great! This was my first time ever seeing Bernadette live so I'm still just in shock of how awesome it was!
Ok, anyway...I'm sure you're all dying to hear about the song she wrote. Let me just say--this woman can write! It was beautiful. It's called something along the lines of "goodnight my friend", and it is just so touching. It was funny though, in the beginning when she messed up on the song and started at the wrong place and had to start over. Accident or on purpose? we'll never know.
Anyway. I'm really tired, wish i could write more but i need some sleep.

Yes...great concert!
The only big change was the song at the end...and it WAS lovely. She talked with the audience quite a bit at the beginning. She said that she loves Dallas because everything is BIG in Texas. I cracked up because she said she wanted to go two-stepping, and she had never been before. She asked the audience where she should go, and she mentioned "Gilley's". People started calling out names, and then she said "The Round Up?...okay I'll go there." FYI---The Round Up is a HUGE country western bar in Dallas, and it is a gay bar (picture big burly Texas men two-stepping with each other...and then Bernadette's face going in there.) Funny, funny, funny! She also mentioned the flat real estate market, and that selling her house was on her mind...but she wouldn't dare try and sell it from the stage. It became an ongoing joke when between songs she would randomly say "5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms"...and other such home references. She also told a funny joke about a prostitute and old man. She seemed in REALLY good spirits, and she looked great in the sparkling gold gown.
The song line-up was (if I am not mistaken)...
LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU
NO ONE IS ALONE
NOTHING LIKE A DAME
FEVER
MIGHT AS WELL BE SPRING
MR. SNOW
SOME ENCHANTED EVENING
SHENANDOAH
NOT A DAY GOES BY
YOU COULD DRIVE A PERSON CRAZY
WITH SO LITTLE TO BE SURE OF
CHILDREN WILL LISTEN
BEING ALIVE
KRAMER'S SONG

And yes...she did make a mistake when she reversed the first lyric. She stopped and said "wait, wait, wait...I reversed the words and it won't rhyme!!! I guess I am just excited about singing it for you for the first time!!!" Very cute...I don't think it was scripted.

Well...excuse any of my typos...I am too tired to proofread. It was a great evening, and I am off to bed!

Yep, roses turn and count your blessings were absent last night. *tear*. I was really hoping for "some people" but she didn't do that either. But, it was still A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Wow! I'm kind of a day late and a dollar short, but I'm so excited for you all anyway! How cute is it that she stopped midsong? Thank you so much for writing up such a nice review so that we can drool over it at home and be insanely jealous. I'm glad you had so much fun!

*hopes you were talking to me so that I don't sound pretentious*

Thank you! I snagged the pic off of Bernadette's website and just played around with the values and saturation a little bit. I actually had a lot of fun doing it...I'm a geek like that. I love the pic your using - it's a great photo of Bernadette.

If you're really talking to KateHarper...Kate (can I call you Kate? I hope I haven't insulted you...), I love your avatar! It's really cute and I love the text & positioning & just everything. It's very cute.

...and I'm feeling bad for being OT...so...did any of you get pictures?

Lets just agree that both of our avatars are cute.
Sorry, but I didn't get any pictures. Me and my friend both forgot our cameras . I did manage to get one really bad picture on my phone. She's just this white glowing glob.

I was at the concert both nights, and as already discussed, it was AMAZING! I think Saturday night's performance was the better of the two- she seemed to be more 'on' that night.

One funny Saturday night happening- during "Mister Snow", she got kind of tongue tied with and told Marvin to stop the music and start over again, then told that audience that she had 'started speaking in tongues'.

The Meyerson Symphony Hall has a really nice feature- there's a little 'green room' where the performer can go after the concert for a meet and greet with fans, thus eliminating the often very cold (or in Texas, very hot) wait outside at the stage door. There was a green room Friday night, but the woman that was running it kept saying "No Pictures! No Pictures!" and made everybody put their cameras away before Bernadette came out. I found that really odd, especially because I think she said that it was Bernadette's request, because I have never known her to deny fans pictures. But, she did come out and graciously signed things for people and took a few moments to chat with everybody.

Saturday night, however, there was no green room at all. So, I went down to the stage door and got to see her there, and I did get a picture, which I will try to post soon.

Thanks so much for the reviews guys. My next question was going to be if anyone stage doored. I would love to see that pic. This makes me so excited to see her in Feb!
