From: Chicago, Il | posted: 6/2/2007 at 12:08:26 PM ET I know Bernadette has two siblings Joseph and Donna, but is she the youngest, oldest, or middle child? If some one could answer this question for me that would be great! Thanks so much!!

I don't know the exact birth dates of her siblings, but I think her brother is approximately three to five years older and her sister is about nine or ten years older. I only have a general impression. Others may have more specific information.

| posted: 6/2/2007 at 6:52:40 PM ET I'm quite certain her sister is 9 years older and her brother falls just about 5-6 years older. I remember an article on her from her Dames at Sea days. I can't remember if she was 19 or 20 at the time but for some reason I remember them mentioning her 25 year old brother.
"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990

| posted: 6/2/2007 at 9:23:52 PM ET Okay. I realized I had posted said article on this site so I looked it up. And its a good thing because I even had her brother's age wrong. So final answer: Bernadette is about 4 years younger than her brother. In the article he is 24 and she is 20. And I know Bernadette has said several times that her sister is 9 years older than she is. Sounds like the Lazzaras really knew a thing or two on how to very evenly space out their children. By the way, here is the link to the article. It's a good one, even on repeat readings.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/2/2007 at 11:38:37 PM ET Thanks, moljul. That's one of my very, very favorite interviews. It's from way back in the old days before she was forced to become extremely private and guarded in order to protect her basic state of being from egregious media assault (of the kind from which all celebrities suffer in one degree or another).

Assuming they started school at 5 (when most children back then started), it looks like they had a baby when another child was ready for school.
(I know several families with stay at home mothers who did this, and not always deliberately. Not that I'm saying this is the case here, but it's not uncommon.)
