This was my fifth visit to London, so we didn't go to some of the more obvious places. We visited: Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's and a few other Wren churches, Hampton Court, National Gallery, Tate Modern, Victoria & Albert, Tower of London, Chiswick House, Transportation Museum, the cities of Rochester and Winchester; also saw maybe 7 plays. And ate in a lot of small, really good restaurants in the West End (we stayed on the Strand, close to Covent Garden).

In case you haven't guessed, I really like to travel (and, am right now planning for my next 3 trips which take place in the next 7 months)

Whew!

Jean

yes unfortunately Bernadette's movie career has never really taken off which has kept her from getting a lot of choice roles. I am glad I will be able to see her in A Few Good Years and hopefully this will open up opportunities for her on more mainstream, big budget pictures but she's too far along in her career to really have a big movie career at this point. Too bad. Though she definitely keeps busy enough that we can all see her.

i went to rochester cathedral about a year ago on a school trip. nice place.
you stayed on the strand?! that must have cost a bomb! I was there on wednesday with my dad. we went to a shop called "the dress circle" which specialises in musical theatre. sheet music, cds, tapes, videos etc. but it was closed due to a fire! i was so disappointed! i wanted to get the either dames at sea cd, the goodbye girl cd or george m! cd. which one does she sing most on?

they say bernadette's wonderful..........and she is

I would have to reccomend the Goddbye Girl. George M! and Dames at Sea are some of her earlier works, so she wasn't in them as much. The Goodbye Girl was a lead role for her......and listening to her with Martin Short is always enjoyable. And if you don't already have the Song and Dance cd, I would strongly suggest you buy it.

Well I would very much recommend Dames at Sea as well. It was mostly an ensemble piece but she was technically the largest female role. She sings on quite a few songs and has some really great songs. It's also a good way to find out what she sounded like at 24. Star Tar is my favorite song on that CD with a great deal of the tap dancing recorded. She does sing a lot on Goodbye Girl so that is great to get but I also think she was having some voice problems at the time so her singing sounds a bit raspy at times. Don't get George M unless you are really trying to complete your BP collection. She doesn't sing much on it at all.

I hate to break it to you guys but she is really not in A Few Good Years THAT much. Michael and Kirk Douglas are essentially the stars of the movie. To me the movie seems almost a *little* more Indie than the big blockbusters we see nowadays on the big screen...why? because the movie is a *little* "off the wall". This does not mean its a bad movie. On the contrary..its a wonderful movie!!! And because it has that inter-generational thing going on I think it'll appeal to a wide audience. Her scenes will definantly be memorable tho.

Just my 2 cents,

Cindy =)

hey moljul......I was just wondering, when did your friends have a chance to talk to Michael at Bernadette's cd signing? Only because the area where he was standing (and at some points, sitting) was blocked off. The only people he was around were Bernadette's publicist (and her associates), Bernadette's assistant, Maureen Moore (from Broadway), myself, and a couple of people that I know.
Also, I know Bernadette spoke to her fans, but her encounters with them were brief; I can't imagine she would talk about something like wanting to learn how to sail (or swim) at her cd signing? I'm not accusing you of anything, I just didn't see him talking to anyone that I didn't know.

Hey.....maybe we know some of the same people! That would be funny heehee

I don't want to seem nasty, but it's not really anyone's business what I do for a living.
But....I'll tell ya anyways LOL. I'm only 20 years old (I'm a college student). I do live in NY, just not in Manhattan (although I go there often).
But, I don't really know what you mean by inside info? There are people who have posted much more useful info; I mostly post opinions or somewhat obvious facts.

LOL you're funny Kevin.

Actually, I did work in the television industry for 2 years (since I was 18 years old). I worked there while I was going to college in Manhattan. I left that job this past June; now I'm finishing school closer to home. However, that's not how I know Bernadette (in case that's what anyone was wondering).

Oh, well, thank you.
I don't pretend to know more than I do, I just post what I know to be true. I try to use what knowledge I have, so that other's can learn from me, or correct me (when I am wrong) so that I can learn from them.
I just think that life is full of lessons and facts, and I pride myself on learning as many as I can.

Well my friends know Bernadette quite well too so maybe that is why they were able to talk to Michael for a few minutes. But that is just what they told me, I was not there. Though they wouldn't make things up to tell me so I'm sure they did actually talk to them.
