From: Ohio | posted: 6/4/2004 at 11:30:56 PM ET Actually that pretty much looks like her autograph signature-at least the one I'm familiar with from the playbills she has signed for me. She usually doesen't sign out her last name completely.
I would still be leary about purchasing an autograph over e-bay because I'm sure that many times these are just someones good impression of a signature.

| posted: 6/4/2004 at 11:38:09 PM ET I know Bernadette often signs in just a BRP fashion, but I must say that the one at that particular link does look rather shady. Her endings don't usually trail off in that squiggly way; they're usually more sharp. But that's not to say she didn't sign it. What you have to worry about with ebay autographs is that they might be signed, but the photo and signature might be copies (not the originally signed photo).

I suggest if you want to buy something autographed, you look for the stuff being auctioned off for Broadway Barks on Ebay. That way, you are contributing to a great cause and know the item is authentic.

They might scrawl something down, but not take the time to be as legible as they might for a genuine fan in different circumstances.

Seriously, I've heard people both ask if they were related and actually affirm that they knew they were.

Sitting in an audience before a show starts, you can often hear people make some of the most outlandish assertions. Sometimes it's hard to resist turning around and correcting them.

| posted: 6/6/2004 at 2:43:24 PM ET Oh I know Karen. I remember one time at Annie Get Your Gun some people behind me were discussing the fact that Bernadette was once married to Steve Martin. It took so much self control for me to not turn around correct them. I thought I might scare them with my knowledge of Bernadette. lol Because Lord knows I would not have simply said, "No, she was never married to him." I would have turned around and gave them her life story.
