Bernadette will be on an episode of Carol Burnett and Friends tomorrow night (2/20)at 8:00 (EST I am guessing) on TV LAND. I am not sure which one this is...I only know it is episode 40 (I think it might be As the Stomach Turns.)

I emplore anyone who has not seen As The Stomach Turns to watch the show. You simply can not be a Bernadette fan and not see that skit. When she dives over the couch and you hear the entire set shake when she hits the floor, well it still makes me go "Ouch!". LOL

Was she on that program more than once? When I was growing up, Bernadette seemed to be on TV so much. I remember her on the Sonny and Cher show, all sorts of talk and variety shows. She was such a relief from the usual lackluster TV junk. Thanks to her, I was probably the only kid in my town with a fixation on Harold Arlen songs. I wonder where all of those tapes are now?

Yes, she often guest starred on the Carol Burnett Show. I think maybe 4 or 5 times during its run. Bernadette has said several times that she was very grateful to Carol for putting her on so much because Bernadette wasn't getting a great deal of work at the time and being on Carol Burnett's show gave her continued national exposure. There were lots of great musical segments but the best non-musical skit is As The Stomach Turns. It is a take-off of the movie The Exorcist with a little Watergate humor thrown in as both were quite on the minds of the public at the time.

By a very quick count, I get that she appeared 9 times on the show. First appearance I can find is 9/29/69, last 3/19/78 (the final season).

I love that she just dove over the couch like that. lol The rest of the cast started laughing a little. Even funnier than the fall itself is the face and noise she makes before she does it...sort of like a coyote yell.

Yes, I remember Carol's face. She looked behind the couch like, "My God are you okay?" but she was clearly trying not to laugh either.

Oh my...that was hysterical. I love it when Carol, Bernadette and Tim almost cracked up toward the end. A very funny episode.

OMG that was sooo funny!! The part at the end where they were cracking up was funny but also when Bernadette started freaking out in the beginning (when she was throwing the flowers and candy) was hysterical...the look in her eyes and the creepy music I'm so glad I taped it...I'd love to get a copy of the entire hour long episode, has anyone seen it on ebay??

The full hour episode is available and regularly for sale on ebay. It's described as the Collector's Edition with Ken Berry and Bernadette Peters. Later in the show Bernadette sings a beautiful rendition of Oscar Levant's "Blame It On My Youth", and is also in their musical salute to Harry Warren. In the other hour long episode included on the tape(the one with Ken Berry) Carol Burnett does just about the funniest impression of Judy Garland I've ever seen. It's definitely worth buying.

I have it on an older video, but I just went to ebay to check, and in the new DVD series it's vol 6 of the Collectors Edition. I'm assuming it's available in stores too.

I'm not sure this is the place to put this, but, here are screen captures from the fabulous Carol Burnett Show where Bernadette plays the possessed little girl and throws herself over the couch (The episode is called "As the Stomach Turns"):
