By: Alphabet Soup at 6/10/2009 at 7:29:26 AM ET Oh wow, if there's a DVD release, then I will definitely be buying that! Cheers, Soup ------------------------- By: Scottie at 6/10/2009 at 5:23:24 AM ET Wasn't there mention of a DVD release of the concert as well? Bring it on! "There’s a lot in the world for us to turn our attention to — helping people, helping animals, and helping animals help people." ... Bernadette Peters, August, 2007 ------------------------- By: Alphabet Soup at 6/10/2009 at 4:45:47 AM ET For any Aussie's on this site, the Adelaide concert will be shown on The Bio channel on Foxtel on June 27 =D I will definitely be taping this!! Cheers, Soup ------------------------- By: Alphabet Soup at 6/9/2009 at 1:01:21 AM ET Tamashii, I agree that there was so much commotion that it was difficult to really experience the moment, but as soon as I got out of the crowd, I was so overwhelmed by just how lucky I was and how amazing she was that I started crying and mum was like 'What's wrong?' and I just said 'I've just met the most amazing performer I'll ever see...' It was truly the best night of my life and I'm so ecstatic that she came out to Australia!! I also agree about it being over too quickly =[ Lucky you, getting to meet her twice! Where were you staying? We stayed at the Stamford, right across the road, maybe you were in the same place? Cheers, Soup ------------------------- By: moljul at 6/8/2009 at 11:50:50 AM ET Laura and Soup, thanks for the great reports. Sounds like a wonderful weekend. And don't worry. We love rambling when it has to do with Bernadette. :-) "Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990 "I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987 ------------------------- By: tamashii at 6/8/2009 at 10:51:15 AM ET Wow. By far the best night of my life. The concert was amazing- there were a few technical difficulties (a broken mic stand, and she had to restart fever part way through) but she got through those little hiccups so gracefully. I loved hearing When you wish upon a star- so beautiful. She also sang I honestly love you, as a tribute to the wonderful Peter Allen. My only criticism would be that it was over too quickly!!! I could have listened to her for hours. Marvin Laird was there (my mum thought he was great- he's extremely entertaining to watch!), as was Cubby, and I also saw Patty briefly afterwards- I'm pretty sure it was her, I've seen a few pictures. I got to meet Bernadette twice! I went to the Saturday night performance, and quickly made my way to the stage door afterwards. I was at the front of the pack (there were a lot of people waiting to see her) but as soon as she came out I got trampled. I was nearly pushed to the ground a couple of times! I don't like crowds- being a little on the small side, it can be a bit intimidating having people sort of stand over you, especially when they're also trying to push you out of the way. Thanks to my mum (who dragged me forward) I got to meet Bernadette very very briefly- she signed a cd for me and took a photo- but I was so overwhelmed by all the pushing and shoving, that I didn't get to really experience the moment. We were staying in a hotel across the street and our window looked out at the theatre and when we saw people heading out after the Sunday night performance, mum suggested we go across and watch her at the stage door again. Again there were a lot of people, but we just stood back and watched this time. I wasn't going to bother her for another autograph, but once the crowd thinned, my mum found her ticket from the night before in her bag, and took me up to meet her again and get it signed. I was too nervous to say much- mum did all the talking, saying how we'd driven eight and a half hours to see her, how I was a big fan etc, and Bernadette said 'thank you very much' and asked if I wanted a photo taken. She was so kind, and very patient- she signed things and had photos taken with everyone who waited. It was an amazing experience- I'll never forget it. I meet some really nice people at the stage door both nights. Sorry for rambling, but the excitement hasn't died down yet! I envy those of you who have had the opportunity to see her multiple times, but considering I thought I'd never get the chance to see her even once, I can't really complain! Laura ------------------------- By: Alphabet Soup at 6/8/2009 at 8:00:14 AM ET OMG I WENT TO THIS TOO!! On Sunday night! And I waited at the stage door, not really knowing what to expect and SHE CAME OUT!! I was first in line and she smiled and came straight over to me and I was so nervous that when she asked if I was an aspiring singer or actress (and I'm not, I'm too shy) I just kind of went 'Uhh...yeah =]' Hahaha. My knees were shaking so badly, I thought I was going to fall over! In the show, she was a very good entertainer (although you all already knew that, haha). She made lots of jokes and (of course) sung beautifully! The songs that I can recall the names of at the moment were (not in this order): No One Is Alone Ain't Nothing Like A Dame Rose's Turn With So Little To Be Sure Of Fever Move On I Honestly Love You When You Wish Upon A Star Johanna Shenandoah Children Will Listen Anyone who went remember anything else? I just can't think of them right now...when I do, I'll be sure and tell you. Best night of my life!!!!!!!!!! Cheers, Soup ------------------------- By: Scottie at 6/7/2009 at 12:51:41 PM ET Please tell us more! A friend phoned me from OZ saying that she sang No One Is Alone at the Gala Opening but haven't heard anything else about the concerts so far. "There’s a lot in the world for us to turn our attention to — helping people, helping animals, and helping animals help people." ... Bernadette Peters, August, 2007 ------------------------- By: gazza at 6/7/2009 at 9:37:35 AM ET Have just returned backed to my hotel, from witnessing something that i would never have thought possible, have had the most amazing weekend at the Adelaide Cabaret festival, starting firstly with the surprise performance from Bernadette Peters at the Gala opening on the Friday night, then I witnessed both her shows Saturday and Sunday, words fail me, what an amazing performer have followed her career for many years and to see her perform live three nights in a row was breathtaking.
