Here's one more bit of news: in the New York Times of January 9, there is a very long article about Mendes. There is a one-sentence mention that he might be doing "Gypsy" with Bernadette in the future. I sent the article to my own e-mail and I can e-mail it to you, if you'd like. (I don't have the link offhand.)

In an article in the St. Petersburg Times (Jan.3) she said that she would start rehearsing "Gypsy" "in about one year", and (I think she said) that Mendes is the director. (You can read it for yourself: "www.sptimes.com", then click on "Weekend" for Jan. 3, and her story is on the first page.)
