See headers | With all of the younger people on the list introducing themselves, I
finally got around to doing it myself. Hi, my name is Kelsey, I'm 14,
and I've actually been suscribed for a while, but I've never posted.
When I saw 'Annie' years and years ago I loved the character Lilly,
but I never knew who played her. Last year my friends and I started
singing 'Anything You Can Do' in Science (long story), so I bought
the cast recording of AGYG. Now I'm completely obsessed and am going
to go see the show next month.
Kelsey
p.s. I'm torn between getting the cast recording of 'Mack &
Mabel,' 'Dames At Sea,' and her solo recording, 'Bernadette.' Any
suggestions?

See headers | Hi Kelsey!
As for suggestions on those CD's....I have Mack and Mabel and it's not one of
my favorites. In fact, for me it's merely a Bernadette collectible for me!
As for the other 2, I just ordered the solo CD, and I've heard some great
songs from it, and I plan to get Dames at Sea soon. Hope this helps!

I have that on vinyl, I listened to it once...nothing really stuck out with
me. My favorite cast album is "Song and Dance", it was my first Bernadette
album and I could go on and on for days about her performance on the album!
I've never heard emotion come through a cast album like that...it's just WOW!

I couldn't agree with you more! Although my favorite show CD of hers is The
Goodbye Girl, I love Song and Dance. I found the description of her
performance absolutely incredible, and I wish I could have seen something
like that for myself!

can't believe that show wasn't a hit...but Broadway is fickle haha. ~Eric

See headers | I love 'Song & Dance'! After hearing her sing it, I have trouble turning
off the CD player. My favorite song from that album would have to be 'Tell
Me on a Sunday.' I once performed it for a bunch of six graders and they
loved it. I've also heard Sarah Brightman singing it, but she really didn't
do it half as well as Bernadette.

If you are interested at all in the 1930s Warner Bros. musicals, nearly
*everything* in DAMES will pop out at you! It's a *very* tongue in cheek
throwback to the Ruby Keeler/Dick Powell movies with some very clever lyrics.
I think it's great fun :)

My favorite is the Bernadette Peters in Concert, it has so many good songs,
(btw, anyone on the Sondheim_Discussion egroups list here??)I also like the
Anastasia soundtrack (shut uuuuuup), I loved seeing Bernadette as Sophie in
that, it just seemed like such a fun role and the french accent made her so
cute!

Lol! I went to Disney World this February and I was in the Magic Kingdom for
the 4th time in the week we were there, so I went to the pin traders
stations and decided to see if they had any Anastasia pins, I knew they
didn't but it was a lot of fun harassing the guy who was working there at
the time :)

Yea, I know, that's why I said it :) I enjoy making trouble :) When we
went to Universal I had to go to a Barney thing and I was listening to my
Rent CD and I turned it up real loud to drown it out and I realized that
EVERYBODY could hear it. And Rent isn't the ideal CD to play in a room full
of little kids :)
