Hi folks,
I'm new to the list but I'm hoping you all can help me out here.
My parents got me a video of "Bernadette Peters: In Concert" for
Christmas and I immediately fell in love with her, her voice, and her
performance! I'm sure a lot of you can relate:)
So I did what anyone in my situation would do............I got online
and bought every CD I could find with Bernadette on it! Well, they arrived
today and I am now faced with the daunting questions of which to listen to
and in what order would be most gratifying. This is where I need your help.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Here's what I have:
Dames At Sea
George M!
Mack & Mabel
Song & Dance
Sunday in the Park With George
Into the Woods
Annie Get Your Gun
Bernadette
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight
Sondheim, ect. Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall

Like I said it's a rather daunting challenge to decide. Also if anyone
sees something I missed and need to get to become completely versed in the
career of this amazing woman: please speak up!
Thanks in advance to everyone. I hope to join in on the conversations
soon.......once I become more knowledgable:)
I remain, as always,

hey, scott, welcome to the list. in response to your question, i would definately go in chronilogoical order to see how her performance style has developed over the years. into the woods is a personal favorite, and annie get your gun and sondheim, etc. as extremely close contenders. talk 2 ya lata!!!

WOW You really went at it didn't you? AWESOME! My first and favorite
Bernadette album was "Song and Dance", she really showcases her voice and
acting ability on this album, the "Finale" will give you chills!!! They're
all great, the "Bernadette" CD is a little different but her voice is really
raw and heartfelt on it. So go in whatever order you want, see how her voice
differs and bends to each situation. -Eric

I would listen to them in chronological order. That way you could hear her
improvements/ageing etc.

I say go with whatever you like. I kind of went backwards, going from
Into the Woods(how I discovered her), then Song and Dance and
Bernadette, and then did your type thing, buying Annie Get Your Gun,
I'll be, Sondheim etc., the concert on tape etc- totally falling in
love with her, and especially when I saw Annie GYG over Xmas. Then I
did Mack and Mabel, Sunday and Dames. I love all of them, but my
favorites are Annie GYG, Dames at Sea, Sunday, Into the Woods, Song
and Dance. Also, one you work your way thorugh these, consider the
live @ carnegie hall CD of Anyone Can Whistle- it's fabulous!
